Lisa Wilson named new Assistant Superintendent for Education Services

Lisa Wilson has been selected to serve as Highland Park ISD's new Assistant Superintendent for Education Services. Wilson will succeed Gena Gardiner who announced her retirement earlier this year.

Wilson has 27 years of experience as a school administrator and teacher. She most recently served as the Director of Assessment and Research in the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, Kansas. She has also served as an Associate Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, a Lead District Coordinating Teacher, and an English and Communication Arts Teacher, all for Blue Valley.

"Highland Park ISD is known throughout the nation as an exemplary leader in K-12 education, and I am so pleased to join this outstanding school district," Wilson said. "I am looking forward to working with an incredible group of faculty and staff and helping the students of Highland Park ISD succeed."

Wilson has been a member of several educational organizations, including the Board of Directors for the National Board for Certified Teachers of Kansas, the Kansas Advanced Placement Council, and the Kansas Assessment Advisory Council.

"Lisa Wilson is a dedicated educator, and I am excited to welcome her to Highland Park ISD," Superintendent Dr. Tom Trigg said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge to the district, and her passion for taking every student's academic needs to heart is one of her top qualities."

Wilson earned her bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her Master of Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Wilson will be relocating to the Dallas area soon, and she will begin her transition to Highland Park ISD on Jan. 23. Wilson and her husband, Matt, have two children - son Hayden is a 2015 graduate of the School of Engineering at Kansas State University and a software developer, and daughter Tori is a freshman at Emporia State University studying to become a math teacher.
