HP vs. McKinney (Varsity) A McKinney player sticks her hand the in face of Highland Park senior Amanda Goodwin as she goes in for the shot.

Junior Kaitlyn Read scored 27 points for Highland Park's varsity girls basketball team during its game against the McKinney Lady Lions on Friday at Highland Park High School, but that was not enough to secure a victory, and the Lady Scots eventually lost by a score of 65-68.

In addition to Read's high-scoring game, other Lady Scot players put forth a valiant effort, including senior Sydney McDaniel who scored 15 points, junior Courtney Klingaman who scored 11 points, senior Libby Ethington who scored eight points and senior Amanda Goodwin who scored four points.

The Lady Scots (16-6, 4-3) will be taking on Rockwall's varsity team (22-6, 6-1), which is currently ranked No. 14 in Texas for Class 4A girls high school basketball, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the HPHS main gym.
