Spring is flying by, which means summer will be here before we know it. This time of year is all about those easy pieces you can wear now and continue styling all summer long. Think dresses, white denim, raffia accessories, and lightweight layers that work for everything from lunch with friends to vacation dinners. Today, I’ve rounded up my favorite spring-to-summer transitional outfits, all looks that feel classic, chic, and easy to mix into your everyday wardrobe this season. These pieces are also great for travel because you can mix and match them several different ways. Some of you may remember these looks from our Chico's LIVE segments! We have our next one on June 3rd at 3PM CST, so be sure and tune in on either Chico's Instagram or Facebook feed.

For sizing purposes, we both wear a Chico's size 0, which translates to a regular size 4. I size down a half size in their shoes.

Spring to Summer Transitional Styles

Laura styled it with these espadrille slide sandals and this scenic clutch.

Two more midi dresses you definitely want in your wardrobe! This linen-blend metallic striped shirtdress is the epitome effortless, chic, and comfortable. I love the stitched cinch waist making it flattering. I styled it with these gorgeous embroidered ballet flats and a statement necklace. Laura is wearing this fabulous lace trim shirtdress, the perfects statement dress for summer! It also comes in black if you prefer a neutral color. She styled it with these espadrille wedge sandals and this toggle charm necklace.

For a more coastal feel, this printed midi dress is gorgeous! I styled it with this belt and this statement necklace. I am also wearing these mesh espadrille flats that I love! Laura is wearing a great LBD for summer. This embroidered cotton shirtdress is a lightweight and effortless dress. It also comes in white. I love that the belt is removable, giving you an option for a more relaxed fit. She completed her look with these espadrille wedge sandals and this statement necklace.

Hello summer! We are beach ready in these styles. I'm wearing this palm printed no-iron blouse and shorts combo. I love an all-print look for travel, but you could easily mix and match these pieces with solid white or denim. Laura is wearing this red no-iron blouse and these lightweight wide-leg capris (fit is relaxed). Style these looks with beach-y accessories like this seashell crossbody, these seashell sandals, espadrille slides, and this metallic straw sun hat.

White denim is a must for transitional season! These girlfriend colorblock jeans are a fun twist on a classic style. If you need a great white jeans, then these white girlfriend jeans are a must. They fit great and are so comfortable. Style your white jeans with easy pieces like this striped shirt, this no-iron linen shirt, or layer with a white denim jacket.

summer outfit inspiration fashion pieces

Let's talk summer outfit inspiration. Memorial Day Weekend is just around the corner, which means summer is almost here, bringing lots of travel and outdoor events. I am definitely looking forward to lots of pool time, patio cocktails and dinners al fresco. I've been talking a lot about travel recently - from Texas travel destinations, to best travel shoes, and travel gadgets and essentials. If you have upcoming vacations or summer events, planning your looks is also a must and this blog post is here to help.

Summer Outfit Inspiration

If you’re heading out to grab some much needed Vitamin D, the first must-have is a high-quality swimsuit. I love this ruched one-piece swimsuit. It's such a flattering style and gorgeous color. Plus, you can choose to wear it with straps or go strapless for better tanlines. I linked more options below or read HERE for the best swimsuits of 2026. Just add this eyelet cover-up to take you to and from the pool or beach.

Summer means many dinners al fresco, so make sure you have something stylish, but lightweight and comfortable. This printed mini sundress is both beautiful and comfortable. Plus, the print is so fun. Wear it with these gold wrap sandals to complete your look. You also need a cute and casual look. These coastal chino shorts are a must-have for summer time. They're so versatile and could be worn as a casual summer look or for an upscale, summer style. For a laidback look, pair them with this classic linen blouse and wicker basket tote everyday.

Now for accessories…if you're planning many days poolside then flip flops, sunglasses, sunscreen and a fabulous hat are a must. Next, you’ll want at least one summer-inspired jewelry like these gold seashell earrings. They are the epitome of summer!

If you're hosting this summer, you will need summer tablescape pieces. Something that I recommend are these lemon placemats. They're so cute and the epitome of summer. You will also need these shell linen cocktail napkins and these beaded tumblers. Cheers! Now you're ready for happy hour.

I love a shirtdress for spring and summer, and this belted embroidered dress (size S) is going to be a favorite this year. I love the elevated classic style, perfect for vacation, dining alfresco, and more.

travel essentials and gadgets

With upcoming Memorial Day Weekend in mind, I thought it would be a great time to talk all things travel. In this post, I’m sharing some of the best travel gadgets and essentials that make your overall travel experience much better. These items are great for airplanes as well as road trips. If you don't have a trip coming up, it's still great to get these items now in preparation for any future trip you might embark on. Now is the perfect time to plan so you can get all the best deals! Also, ICYMI, I have an updated Texas travel ideas blog for those seeking a road trip this summer as well as the 10 best travel shoes that I recommend you own for any upcoming travels. One pair are these slip-on Salomon sneakers as seen above. Also, be sure to scroll through to see what's in my cart right now.

____

Best Travel Gadgets & Essentials

Packing Essentials

Let's start with the items that will make your packing experience so much easier. Obviously, you’ll need nice luggage. These luxury suitcases are not only high quality and perfect for travel, but also so cute. This carry-on luggage is a similar style for under $200. I own it and love it! Quince also has great luggage options for less. Add a nice leather luggage tag so you never have to worry about losing your things. You also need to invest in an Apple AirTag. Owning one has been a game changer for us. We put them in every piece of luggage.

One packing tip…use packing cubes. They save a ton of space, plus they are made to save your shoes from being squished. Next, you’ll need a bag for other essentials like electronics, books, etc. I think a backpack with a laptop compartment is a great idea. A nice weekender bag is also a must-have, especially if you aren't flying. Some other things you might not think about…take a luggage scale to make sure your bags aren’t over the weight limit, a leather organizing case to organize your tech items and cables, and a portable charger so you never have to worry about finding a plug in the airport or at a rest stop.

Travel Essentials

Let's look at the travel essentials for your ultimate comfort and safety. I know that some people have a hard time getting comfortable on long travel days, so I wanted to share a few things that will help. You definitely need these noise-masking headphones. They drown out the noise so you can play your favorite music and just fall asleep. Also, you need a nice memory foam neck pillow for the ultimate relaxation. If you're flying then you'll also definitely want this phone holder so you can easily watch movies and shows from your phone.

Travel Gadgets

When you arrive at your destination, you’ll want to make sure you have everything you need. There are some things that you’re likely to forget, might not think about, or just make your travel easier. One thing is this travel-sized skincare and travel-sized haircare. I use both of these kits every time I travel. Other gadgets include an outlet adapter and a mobile Wifi hotspot and power bank. This travel steamer is also a must-have item for traveling. Some cool items that help with sanitation is this cell phone sanitizer and charger and this no touch door opener. I love how convenient and easy these gadgets make my life! A fun add on is this GoPro waterproof action camera to capture and remember all of your fun travel adventures.

What’s In My Cart

While packing for summer travel and browsing new arrivals, I found myself adding a few classic warm-weather pieces to my cart. These are the kinds of staples that work for everything from travel days to dinners al fresco — chic, versatile, and easy to style all season long. Here’s what I’m loving lately:

1. Tuckernuck Ric Rac Trim Midi Dress
This style feels so timeless for summer. I love the classic silhouette paired with playful trim details. It’s the kind of dress you can wear to brunch, vacation dinners, or even a summer party with wedges and gold jewelry.

2. Dolce Vita Raffia Sandals
A chic neutral sandal is always a good idea for summer travel. Raffia textures are a must for the season. They pair beautifully with dresses, white denim, and linen sets.

3. Sezane Raffia Tote Bag
I also love a raffia bag for summer because they instantly make any outfit feel vacation-ready. This one is roomy enough for travel essentials but still structured enough for lunch or shopping days.

4. Julie Vos Wave Pendant Necklace
Statement jewelry is one of the easiest ways to elevate summer outfits. A wave-inspired gold necklace adds that coastal touch without feeling too gimmicky.

5. Frank & Eileen Linen Button-Up Shirt
An oversized linen button-down is a summer wardrobe staple. I wear mine over swimsuits, with white shorts, or loosely tucked into denim for an effortless travel look.

6. Varley Matching Shorts & Sleeveless Top Set
A chic matching set is always in my cart before a trip. It makes airport dressing so easy while still looking cute and ready to go to lunch upon arrival.

What other travel gadgets do you use? Any planned trips coming up? Check out my recent packing list I shared HERE. It might inspire you to plan for an excursion in the future. Also, be sure and follow my Instagram to follow all of my summer travels!

Tanya Foster wearing Avara black dress and jean jacket in Palm Beach

Travel season is upon us! With less than a month until MDW, summer travel is ramping up, meaning it's time to start thinking about what to pack. When it comes to travel, choosing the right shoes can make or break your trip. Whether you're exploring a new city, rushing through the airport, or heading out to dinner after a long day of sightseeing, you need shoes that are stylish, versatile, and most importantly, comfortable.

Over the years, I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way!) which shoes are worth packing and which ones are better left at home. Today I’m sharing my must-have travel shoes. These are pairs I personally wear and trust to keep my feet happy and my outfits chic, no matter where I’m headed.

Best Shoes for Traveling

1. Tod's Driving Penny Loafers

Tanya Foster wearing mother hustler jeans, tod loafers, cuyana wrap and talbots perfect shirt

These loafers are the holy grail of stylish travel shoes. The classic design works with everything. They’re chic enough for a nice dinner and comfy enough to wear all day. If you’re going to Europe, these are a must-pack. While these shoes are worth the investment, I also love this pair as a similar version for under $100.

2. Chanel Ballet Flats

Tanya Foster in Ming Wang dress with luggage wearing chanel ballet flats

A timeless staple that I always bring along. Chanel ballet flats add instant elegance to any outfit. They're surprisingly comfortable for walking and I never get blisters from them. Although they are an investment, I have found them to be worth it. The quality has lasted for years.

3. Lace-Up Sandals

Tanya Foster at sunset in Palm Beach

If you're headed somewhere warm, these lace-up sandals are a beautiful option. The cognac color pairs beautifully with white, neutrals, and summer prints. They are so comfortable for all day wear and the lace-up style makes them easy to walk around in for hours. I love that they can be worn during the day with a sundress or dressed up for dinner. Also they pack flat, which is always a win!

I've also been known to pack these silver T-strap sandals for many trips. I wear and style metallic shoes like a neutral color. They elevate everything!

4. Adidas Campus Sneakers

Tanya Foster wearing Adidas Campus sneakers

You can never go wrong with a comfortable, sporty sneaker. The Adidas Campus is a favorite for walking-heavy days. They’ve been on my best sellers list since the moment I shared them, so I know y'all love them too. Above I wore them with this white dress for a day of sightseeing.

Tanya Tip: I found these shoes in the children's department, so they were significantly less expensive and fit just as well as women's. For reference, I wear a size 8.5 women's and these shoes are a size 6 children's. If you're not sure about sizing, just buy two pair and return the pair that doesn't fit.

5. TKEES Sandals

Tkees sandals

TKEES are my go-to flip flops for any trip that is beach or pool-related. They’re water-resistant and easy to clean, plus they take up almost no space in your luggage. I love the "Custard" shade for a neutral tone that works with everything. They are also perfect for getting a pedicure!

6. On Cloud Running Shoes

Tanya Foster wearing on cloud sneakers

On Cloud shoes are perfect for walking days as well as vacation work-outs. They're lightweight, breathable, and supportive. Plus I love how they are without laces and easy to slip on or off. A great option if you want a sneaker that can pair with athletic wear or casual daytime looks.

7. Veronica Beard Sneakers

Tanya Foster wearing Ann Taylor look with veronica beard sneakers in NYC

These Veronica Beard sneakers have been worn on repeat for my last two trips to New York City and the Silversea Greece and Turkey cruise. They are so comfortable and offer to much support. I've worn them both for casual travel days and with daytime looks for walking around, as you can see above. They come in a variety neutral color options and truly elevate your sneaker game.

8. New Balance Lifestyle Sneakers (327 or 574)

Tanya Foster wearing new balance sneakers

These sneakers are a great fashion-forward staple. I love the retro styling, and they come in so many fun color combos. They’re a great option if you want something with a little more personality than your average sneaker.

9. Loeffler Randall Heeled Sandals (for dressier occasions)

Tanya Foster wearing Sezane dress

If you have a special dinner or wedding on the itinerary, a kitten heel like the Loeffler Randall heeled sandal is a great choice. They're walkable but still dressy, and they add a feminine touch to evening outfits. I have also been known to pack these espadrilles when traveling––especially if it's a beach-y vacation.

10. Salomon's Sneakers

Salomon's sneakers

Salomon's sneakers are a comfortable and trendy sneaker for traveling. While I do not own these shoes, they are on my wishlist and are getting rave reviews! They come in tons of color options and are easy to slip-on and off.

How Many Shoes Should You Pack?

While I do try to be strategic about packing, I usually bring at least four or five pairs to cover all my outfit needs.

Here’s what typically makes it into my suitcase for a warm-weather trip:

  • 1 pair of loafers or ballet flats (sometimes both)
  • 1 lace-up sandal
  • 1-2 pair of white or neutral sneakers
  • 1 pair of flip flops or slides
  • 1 dressy heeled sandal for evening

Tanya tip: I wear the bulkiest pair (usually sneakers or loafers) on the plane to save space in my luggage and always pack the rest in individual shoe bags to keep things organized.

Graduation Gifts

A classic gift that anyone will use, especially those with a college or advanced degree, is a diploma frame. They should be proud of their accomplishments and will want to frame and commemorate it forever. Another place to shop classic grad gifts is from Minted. They have many photo collage options and other sentimental gifts they will love. They have a graduation gift shop filled with unique, customizable gifts. Right now, use code GRAD26 for 15% OFF grad gifts and announcements.

The easiest gift to give is something monogrammed or personalized. If you're shopping for a guy, initial cuff links or a personalized ballpoint pen are a great gift; especially if they are joining the workforce. For either a guy or girl of any age, personalized luggage and Apple AirTags are a great graduation gift. You can gift travel items with Dr. Seuss's 'Oh the Places You'll Go.' This is a cute throw in gift that you can even write in in lieu of a card.

For someone you’d like to spend more money on (like a daughter, son, or another close family member), think about giving a watch. I love this Michele watch for girls and this Tissot watch for guys. It’s something they’ll wear for a long time. Women will also appreciate this pearl set. It includes timeless jewelry pieces that are perfect for a new job, sorority recruitment, and more. You can gift it with this beautiful travel jewelry case. For a close woman in your life, you will also want to give her the book, 'From Dorm to Doorstep' by Hilary Afshary. It offers tidbits of wisdom and advice as she navigates the world on her own.

If you want to give them something they’ll definitely use in college, think about giving them a collegiate tumbler, or AirPods. You may even want to gifts them a duvet cover set. Quince has many great bedding options at a low price point. Also, a girl will definitely need a clear handbag if she attends any sporting events. Another gift I give ALL the time are these O key rings. People LOVE them! It's a great gift to pair with a Birdie, perfect for campus safety.

If they're going to live in a dorm, a high-quality personalized robe or towel wrap from Weezie is the perfect gift and something they may not buy on their own. Weezie's make-up towels and toiletry bags are also amazing gifts. I love that their bags are machine washable and coated in plastic and terry cloth, making them easy to clean. Other practical gifts for both guys and girls includes shower shoes, a handheld steamer, tool kit or coffee maker.

Tanya Foster Mother's day gift ideas

Mother’s Day is only three weeks away (May 10)! It’s a great time to really reflect and appreciate what your mom has done for you. For those of you who are new here, I lost my mother about 8 years ago and I got personal about the loss in this post. If you’re still fortunate enough to have your mother in your life, I’ve curated some gift ideas for you in this post. If you're a mom, I recommend forwarding this post to your husband or kids to give them some ideas. I’ve included low and high-end items for you to choose from that you can ship directly to your mom if you’re not able to celebrate together. I hope everyone gets to celebrate with their mother or special someone in person. That is the best gift of all!

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

I want to start out with one of my favorite beauty brands as a great gift idea. Colleen Rothschild has a wide variety of beauty products that she will love. Even better is that I have a special offer for you. Right now their Spring Beauty Event is happening where you can get up to $75 off. You can also use code TANYA for 20% OFF site-wide.

Another fabulous brand with so many great options for mom is Weezie. They offer a wide variety of robes, toiletry bags, towels, and more. This French terry robe is one of my favorite robes and is a wonderful gift option. I also love their slippers.

Let's look at some fashion picks. I have great dress ideas HERE and HERE that are perfect for a Mother's Day brunch. I have more dress options below, all at various price points. As far as accessories go, you can never go wrong with a designer handbag. This raffia handbag is so chic and perfect for spring and summer. You also need a great pair of shoes, like these slingback sandals for under $100. Jewelry is another accessory that never disappoints. These statement stud earrings are gorgeous to wear and gift from Julie Vos.

Now let's talk gifts for the home. A beautiful cookbook is always a great idea or a chic picture frame with a photo of the two is a wonderful, sentimental gift. A mug is another gift that she will use all the time. This monogrammed mug is absolutely gorgeous. You can also gift an item that is elevated for everyday, like these embroidered napkins. For something fun, I recommend this Texas-themed mahjong set paired with this mahjong mat or these beautiful playing cards. Beauty products are always a good idea. This Chanel body oil will be a hit with your mom.

A unique gift that Taylor gifted me in the past was this custom pet embroidered sweatshirt. It is the cutest and most thoughtful gift! Mine is just the pet without the name option. You can also get this embroidered dog pillow for the pet mom in your life.

I just met with Sarah Creal for coffee and got to personally hear about her brand. She focuses on women 40+ and her beauty brand has something for all skin types. Loving all the products I have tried so far. You can find them HERE and at Sephora.
