easy home decor updates

Happy Easter Weekend! Are you celebrating Good Friday? Today I want to switch it up and focus on home decor. Do you ever wonder if your house needs a little refresh? The answer is YES and this is the perfect time to focus on some spring home decor updates. I want to share a few home pieces and some tips on how to update your home.  After all, your wardrobe isn’t the only thing that needs to be updated each season. The boutique below has plenty of options for every home style at all different price points. Click the photo above to shop those items or keep scrolling. I have also listed the top 10 best sellers from March at the bottom!

____

Easy Home Decor Updates

The easiest way to update your home is with pops of color. Right now is a great time to add spring tones like blues, greens or yellows. You can do that with pillows, wall art, candles, you name it. My personal favorite way to add color is with pillows. This floral scalloped pillow is an easy way for you to add color, while this velvet edge pillow is an easy way to add subtle change to your home. You can also buy pillow covers instead of new pillows, like this fringe pillow cover. This is a great way to change up your home each season without having to buy new pillows. Throw blankets are another great way to add color and texture to your home for a little refresh without breaking the bank. You can also update your bedding with these border frame sheets to freshen up your space.

Simply changing items out can also make a big difference. Switch out the towels you use every day for some colorful or seasonal ones, like these floral hand towels. You can even swap your your towel holder for this gorgeous gold floral one. You can also add some new glasses or mugs to match your updated home decor. I love these pink tinted coupe glasses or this floral mug for spring and summer. These embroidered scallop napkins or this scalloped table runner are other chic additions to your tablescape. It's also an easy time to add a new table lamp or other light fixture in your home to really brighten up the place.

There are many simple decor pieces that can give your home a quick facelift. For one, you can change or add wall art. This framed floral art piece is an elegant way to bring spring into your spaces. Items that go on surfaces like a marble dish, colorful trays, or vases also work well. Also, never underestimate the power of adding fresh candles a new coffee table book, or picture frames to a fresh look for a new season. I also like to update storage spaces to be more decorative, like using this decorative box for small items or this scallop basket to store blankets and books.

Lastly, bring the outdoors in. Add a faux or real plant to make it feel more spring-like in your home. For something more permanent, add floral wall paper to an office or as a statement wall in your living space. We updated the wallpaper in our dining room last year and it totally transformed the room!

Quick Tips

If you’re looking for other ways to update your home for spring, consider these tips below. They are a little more costly and time-consuming but can really pack a punch.

  • Change up your outdoor entertainment seating and/or decor.
  • Upgrade the hardware on your cabinets
  • Upgrade other fixtures like lights
  • Increase curb appeal with landscaping
  • Update window treatments
  • Add new paint or wallpaper

I always say that it’s best to keep your house completely updated because you never know when you might want/need to sell it. Besides updating our dining room, we've also updated our pool and guest bedroom within the past few years. It makes a huge difference!

Shop more gorgeous home update items below. Have a great weekend! xoxo – Tanya

This is no April Fools' joke! Black and white IS still a great color scheme for spring. Typically, we think of black and white as boring, but these pieces are anything but. Fresh. Clean. Everyone needs classic and versatile pieces in their wardrobe for spring, summer, and beyond. Let's take a look!

____

Black and White Pieces for Summer

Contrary to what many may think, black is not too dressy for daytime. They are perfect for luncheons, daytime events or an easy throw on for a cute work look. And it is definitely not boring! One dress I love is this black flutter sleeve dress. It is the perfect, effortless dress that is easy to dress up or down. Plus, it has pockets! It comes in six other gorgeous color options. I own it in both black and lilac. Another black dress I love is this black sleeveless dress. The collar and button up front give it a classy daytime look. A sleeveless, casual dress will never go out of style. Just pair it with a denim jacket or cardigan if you need an added layer. The dress also comes in white, navy and red. I wear a size S in both dresses.

You also need a great black and white top for summer. I love this flutter sleeve top because it is an elevated staple. Everyone needs this versatile top! I always get so many compliments on it because it is so cute and flattering. Plus, it's under $100. I own it in both white and navy, but it also come in black. I wear a size S.

Now that you have black and white, you'll need some color to mix it up. Shop some fabulous floral and patterned dresses HERE.

Make it a great day! xoxo - Tanya

What was once an outdated pool with dated pool furniture (over 25 years old) became a relaxing oasis perfect for entertaining and summer enjoyment. Thanks to the design team at Frontgate, our dream of a resort-style backyard became a reality. They truly transformed and redefined the space. Let's take a closer look at all of the details, plus we'll dive deeper into the process. Also, be sure to read all the way through to see the details on our pool remodel and sources!

Our Backyard Transformation

Our backyard transformation became a reality thanks to the design team at Frontgate. I scheduled an appointment for their in-store shopping experience with design services at their Legacy West location. It was great because I had an opportunity to peruse the store and give them ideas as to what I liked so she got a feel for my specific taste. I had to submit the dimensions of my backyard as well as photos before the appointment so they would know what to work with. By the time we were done walking through the store, we sat down in their design service area and they had selections for me to choose from. After our meeting, we corresponded through email to solidify all final selections. It was the easiest way to do a patio renovation because they use a CAD drawing to space plan. In fact, everything I selected is interchangeable making it easy for me to rearrange my furniture based on our entertainment needs. All of the furniture was delivered right to my door and was so easy to assemble. I highly recommend this route for anyone looking to remodel. Book your appointment HERE.

As far as design went, I really wanted to use blue tones since our new pool tile is blue. I also think blue is relaxing and makes the backyard a true oasis. It is so nice to step outside and feel like you are on a vacation. As for the dining furniture, I really loved the natural teak material. For the poolside seating and lounge chairs, I stuck with outdoor wicker. I mixed two collections to achieve exactly what I wanted: Palermo and Cassara. All of the furniture is high-quality and so comfortable. Since setting up the furniture, we have had numerous storms and heavy rain and everything has held up beautifully. It is definitely worth the investment!

I really love how the layout/design of the patio renovation turned out. It's really all about the details. The dining space is perfect for alfresco dining. I especially love how they added a heating lamp for cooler nights which will allow us to sit outside in cooler temps. Plus, the rug really ties the whole area together. Another space where the outdoor rug ties the space together is the pool sitting area. It is the best space for a happy hour. The lanterns give the perfect ambience for late night entertaining with a poolside view.

The soleil chairs are another amazing addition to our outdoor area. They're perfect for getting your tan on while also staying cool in the water. For those wanting a pool break, the Palermo chaise lounge chairs are amazing. They are so comfortable and resort quality. I especially love how the design team added an umbrella table next to the outdoor wicker swivel chairs. This area is perfect for drinks poolside, reading or further seating when entertaining. The whole space really makes you feel like you are staying in a resort. It turned out exactly how we wanted thanks to the design team at Frontgate.

Of note, it was important to me to get furniture covers for all of our new furniture. Fortunately, Frontgate makes them and they are labeled. Come winter, we will simply cover all of our furniture and know it is is protected. Also, Pete put most of the furniture together and said that every piece is well-made with all parts included in the shipment. Nothing was ever missing. This speaks to Frontgate's shipping and delivery details.

Pool Remodel: We worked with Billy Fritz at Tile Concepts, Inc. to update our pool. We built our pool 26 years ago and felt it had lived its life. Our pool furniture was also 26 years old and although it held up well, I wanted something completely different. It was time for updated plaster, coping, tile and decking. Billy works directly with Giovanni Govea who does the decking. We selected Tile Concepts, Inc. because they only do remodels. They do not build new pools. The pool remodel work started in February and took about 4-5 weeks to complete. We are very happy with the results. Here are the exact materials and colors we selected for the remodel. 214-676-9668
Tile - Nask 1236 Celestial
Plaster - Crystalstone Aqua Cool Pebble Smooth Finish
Coping - Platinum Ice Travertine Eased Edge
Deck - Platinum Ice Travertine Pavers
After to deck was complete, we used DFW Stone Sealers to seal it. We highly recommend this process to protect your deck. 972-681-3339

Before Pool Remodel

We built this pool 26 years ago and it served us well. The main thing I wanted to update was the deck. Once I met with Billy at Tile Concepts, Inc., he encouraged me to fill in the hot tub since we never used it. That gave us the idea to have a much larger sundeck which would be much more functional.

_____

After Pool Remodel

Removing the wrought iron fence really opened up the entire backyard. Once that was gone, I felt like the dark pool furniture that we originally purchased 26 years ago was too heavy of a look/feel for our new pool. We definitely got our use out of it.

florals and patterns fashion collage

Happy Friday! Can you believe Easter is only a week away? In case you missed it, here is my Easter edit with all things Easter related. If you're still looking for something to wear, you may find it in today's post. Florals and patterns are always on-trend for spring, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorites. Some of these are stunning standout pieces and some are gorgeous accessories you can throw into your look to add a fun spring element.

____

Florals & Patterns

I know that trying florals and patterns can be daunting. You may not know how to wear them, you may be worried about the print looking too busy, or you may have never worn them before. Whatever the reason, I’m here to help. I've been in the same place before.

The easiest way to add florals and patterns is with a dress. This floral linen midi dress is gorgeous! It's perfect for a vacation or fast-approaching summertime events. If you prefer to have sleeves then this floral belted shirtdress is a great alternative. For a shorter dress, I love is this striped poplin dress. It's perfect for a spring daytime event. Other chic dress I love includes this ruffle floral shirtdress and this floral tie neck midi dress, both of which are under $100. Floral dresses are perfect for all events you have coming up – showers, Derby parties, graduations, you name it.

If you prefer a cute and subtle floral embroidered top, then you'll love this floral embroidered sleeveless top. I also love this beautiful embroidered linen top and this floral split hem blouse for under $100. You can also add a pattern to your bottoms with a gorgeous striped circle skirt or this floral linen mini skirt. Mix and match patterns or style a patterned bottom or top with a solid colored piece.

If you don't want to wear florals and patterns, think about adding subtle accessories. You can pair a solid colored look with these floral applique slide sandals. Next, add this tulip-shaped bag to really elevate your spring look. Now you just need these flower stud earrings. For an even more subtle option, wear this perforated floral belt. The options are endless!

Shop more floral and pattern options in the boutique below.

Now go outside and enjoy your weekend. Spring is in the air!  xoxo – Tanya

Tanya Foster wearing Chico's look

Hello and Happy Wednesday! Happy SPRING! It's time for the March Instagram Round-Up. These are all of the items that I share on my Instagram throughout the month that are just too good not to share again. After all, we all can't be everywhere and I would hate for you to miss any of these items and fabulous outfits.

Above I styled a look from my recent Chico's live segment. In case you missed it, you can watch it here. For a fun spring style, I styled this lilac no-iron linen shirt with these girlfriend ankle straight leg jeans. I like to have lightweight layers for spring, so I added this navy shirt with this white linen blazer for a chic, put together style. I wear a size 0 in Chico's.

March Instagram Round-Up

Tanya Foster wearing Social Threads dress

This strapless striped dress (size S) is the perfect color and style for spring. Wear it on a beach vacation or throw a denim jacket on for a cute brunch look.

Tanya Foster wearing Social Threads dress

I love a fun print for spring and summer. This strapless lemon dress (size S) is made of a thicker linen blend material makes it high-quality at a price tag of under $100. It has a gorgeous tie in the back that adds that extra detail that gives it the awe-factor.

Tanya Foster wearing Sail to Sable dress

This pink tweed shift dress (size S) is a must-have for spring! Perfect for Easter, brunches, and luncheons you have this season.

Tanya Foster wearing Talbots dress

A classic shirtdress (size 4) is a must-have in your spring wardrobe. It's structured, flattering, and so versatile.

Tanya Foster wearing Jammers pajama set

I am loving my new pajama sets! In My Jammers is a pajama brand for women, children, and toddlers. This pink rosie set and this petal printed set (size S) are too cute. It's made of a bamboo viscose material that is so soft and breathable. Plus, I love the feminine ruffle detail.

Emily Gemma lip gloss

Emily Gemma has a new brand, Gemme, and I am obsessed! She created three shades of lipgloss that give your lips a plump, luscious look. You can buy them in a bundle or separately.

New york spring style Tanya foster wearing Ann Taylor look

Tanya Foster wearing Vuori loungewear set and veronica beard sneakers in NYC

It's approaching springtime in New York City! Two weeks ago Pete and I spent a long weekend in NYC and were pleasantly surprised by the warm weather we received. We expected winter weather, but what we got was perfect spring days. Since I just went, I figured I would share a New York City packing list with you that is perfect for spring. These looks are also great pieces to have in your spring wardrobe.

We had so much fun on our 4 day/3 night trip. We specifically went because I wanted to see Jonathan Groff in Just In Time before he ends his run on March 29. Ther show is spectacular! Check out this Instagram post, it gives you a little mini travel guide with everything we did in the caption.

New York City Packing List

New york spring style Tanya foster wearing Ann Taylor look

A monochromatic denim set is so chic for spring. Above I styled a denim vest top with these denim pants (size 4) and silver pumps. It was the perfect look to take me from exploring to an elevated lunch and everything in between. Check out another monochromatic denim look for spring here.

Tanya Foster wearing Ann Taylor look with veronica beard sneakers in NYC

These khaki pants (size 4) were a best seller after I wore these on my trip. They are so comfortable and stayed looking fresh after a long day of walking. I styled them with this mock neck sweater tee (size S), a classic black cardigan, and these sneakers.

New york spring style Tanya Foster wearing Zara top and Mersea jeans with Chanel ballet flats

Another best seller from my trip was this puff sleeve shirt (size S). It's a unique twist on a classic style. I paired it with these denim trousers (size 27) and denim ballet flats.

For our main walking day, I wanted something more relaxed and cozy. I paired these sweatpants with this crewneck sweatshirt (both size S) for an elevated loungewear style. These leather sneakers I wore have been another best seller. I wore them on repeat and had no blisters or issues with comfort. Pete wore these brown leather sneakers and also had no issues with comfort!

I know it's time to start dressing for warmer weather, but this tie waist coat was essential for chilly evenings in New York. Plus, it's on major SALE! I recommend buying for next year. Of course I love the gorgeous shade of blue I have on, but it also comes in three other color choices.

New york spring style Tanya foster wearing Ann Taylor look

This lace trim blouse (size S) is perfection for spring. I styled it with these white straight leg jeans (size 27), denim ballet flats, and this Dior handbag. I wore this for high tea at Tiffany's and it was perfect!

I styled this look for our trip home. If you have a later flight this is an easy style to wear for exploring prior to travel. I'm wearing these denim trousers (size 27), a black cardigan over a white tee, and sneakers. I wore all of these pieces in previous looks, so it just goes to show that packing mix and match pieces makes for an easier packing experience.

Good morning! I think it's safe to say we are officially into spring weather here in Dallas, so today I want to look at pieces that are must-haves for spring. These are the perfect styles and weight to take you to any event you have this spring. Even better is that these items are under $100!

Last week I attended the AVARA spring launch event and it was fabulous. Not only did I get to see and catch up with my influencer friends, but I also was inspired by so many gorgeous outfit ideas for the spring season. Their newest spring collection has a wide assortment of dresses, blouses, jeans, and accessories that are perfect for Easter, showers, luncheons, or whatever other events you have on your calendar. It is all the florals, light colors, and beautiful designs you could want that get me excited for the months ahead.

Listen, I'm all about luxury and high-end looks and many times I show you things at a higher price point, but a fashionable look does not have to be expensive, which is why I love shopping at AVARA. For instance, this denim pleated midi dress (size M) is gorgeous and looks high quality. You would never know that it was under $100. A similar style is this pink button up maxi dress, also flattering and perfect for spring.

For a fresh spring look, I styled the dress with this wicker handbag and this silk scarf. A scarf is a must-have piece for spring because there are so many ways to tie a scarf that instantly elevate your look. I finished my look with these strappy kitten heels. They are over $100, but still a great price point and so chic.

I hope this gets you ready for spring weather, because I sure am ready for it! Aren't you?

Shop this look and more affordable options below. I gave you lots of choices.  xoxo - Tanya

Easter & Spring Edit

Fashion

Let's start with what to wear. I love a beautiful dress for Easter, and this pink tie-waist midi dress is a gorgeous option! Another beautiful style is this long-sleeved floral dress. This belted midi dress and this belted linen floral dress are other chic and classic styles. Pair your Easter dress with these kitten heel sandals or these woven sandals. Complete your style with this basket tote bag and these flower statement earrings. You'll also want a lightweight cardigan to have for an easy layer. I have many more dress options below in various styles and at different price points that are all gorgeous!

Home

Now let's look at Easter and spring home decor. If you've been following me for a while then you know I love to go simple and chic for holidays. Adding subtle accents gives your home a holiday vibe without it looking too junky. I love adding subtle home pieces like this tulip candle holder, this rosy check decorative egg, or this Easter egg wreath. This tulip basket is another decor item that is so versatile. If you are hosting an Easter event this year, you will need the best table decor. These Easter basket place holders, these bunny salt and pepper shakers and this floral pitcher add the perfect details to your tablescape. I think it's a good time to update and freshen up your towels, especially hand towels and kitchen towels. Great one-stop shops for chic Easter decor are MacKenzie-Childs and Anthropologie. I also find a lot of cute stuff through Weezie's Easter collection. For more decoration ideas, scroll through the boutique below. I have included options for all you could think of.

Gifts

Lastly, we need to discuss Easter gifts. Pottery Barn Kids is a great place to shop for Easter baskets and essentials. A basket I am loving this year is this scalloped rattan basket. Something super cute to put in a basket for kids are these sherpa plush animals. If you're looking for a fun kid gift, you'll love this Easter Lego set or bunny Lego set. If you want to gift a friend or adult child, treats are always the way to go. This Bunny Bark is both cute and delicious. A beautiful necklace, this patterned picture frame or Easter mug are other great ideas. I also love this Weezie scalloped robe for everyday use.

What do you have planned for Easter?

Have an amazing weekend!    xoxo - Tanya

spring and summer wedding guest dresses, shoes and accessories

I often get this question on Instagram, so today I want to look at wedding guest dresses. Since we are about to enter into prime wedding season, I want to highlight my favorite wedding guest dresses and accessories. These are not only great for a wedding, but also any spring event you have coming up. I have included a variety of styles at various price points so that there is something for everyone. As always, you can click on the photo above to shop, or scroll all the way down for my complete list of favorites.

____

Spring Wedding Guest Dresses

I frequently get asked if black is acceptable for a spring/summer wedding. Yes, you can get away with it if it's a formal wedding, but I would recommend sticking with a dress that is a lighter color tone. If you want to wear something darker, then opt for navy before black. This is why I have a large selection of dresses that are more colorful and more appropriate for a spring wedding. One dress I have styled before that I recommend is this organza floral dress. The orange color works for year round!

If you prefer an elegant dress for your next formal event, then this silk halter maxi dress if for you. The cactus green color is perfect for spring, summer and even into fall. If you want something with some texture, then you'll love this blue floral embroidered maxi dress. It is a gorgeous color that looks good on everyone. Plus, I love the chic mock neck style.

I also like to own versatile solid colored dresses that can be reworn but styled with a variety of accessories to change up your look. This square neck midi dress is so elegant and timeless, plus it comes in several color choices. This split sleeve side smocked midi dress is another elegant and versatile dress. Dress it up with chic accessories for your next event. You can't beat the quality and price point.

If you are looking for a patterned dress for your next spring event, you will love this floral midi dress. What a statement piece! I love the belted style and cap sleeve, making it ultra flattering. Another beautiful floral dress is this floral applique cocktail dress. I have many more floral dresses in the boutique below. They're all so pretty and just exude spring!

These wedding guest dresses are gorgeous, but your look is not complete without the right shoes and accessories. Some of my favorite shoes for events includes these gold floral sandals and these floral raffia platform sandals for a bit of color. These nude heeled sandals are another classic shoe you can wear for an event this season. If you want to add an element of awe to your look, wear these crystal bouquet drop earrings or these pearl drop statement earrings. You will also want a gorgeous clutch, like this crystal embellished clutch or this floral embroidered clutch. Just add the perfect strapless bra. This is the bra I swear by. It is the perfect cut to wear under any dress, plus it is so comfortable.

Below is a complete list of wedding guest dresses and accessories that I love at all different price points.

Have a great weekend!   xoxo - Tanya
