The HPHS Girls Cross Country team, led by its new coach, Susan Bailey, opened its season Saturday, Aug. 24 at the 29th Annual Greenhill Relays. The format of the meet was four relay team members, each running a 1.5-mile course at Norbuck Park. This year, the girls were grouped in the 5A/4A category, racing much larger schools such as Southlake Carroll and Flower Mound.
  
In the Varsity classification, the girls placed two teams in the top ten, finishing 3rd and 8th, with overall times of 36.28 and 39.35 minutes. In the JV-A classification, the girls also placed two teams in the top ten, finishing 2nd and 4th. In the JV-B classification, the girls placed three teams in the top ten, finishing 4th, 5th and 8th.
  
The Lady Scots will race again on Saturday, Aug. 31 in the Marcus Invitational to be held at North Lakes Park in Denton.
