Singing Scots Sweep UIL

On Wednesday, April 5th and Thursday, April 6th the Highland Park High School Choirs competed at the Region XX UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest at Duncanville High School.

Out of the five choirs that competed, 2 non varsity and 3 varsity, all five groups received a "sweepstakes" trophy!!!  This is the highest rating a musical ensemble can attain and means that the groups were rated first division by all six judges who heard them throughout the day.  In fact, out of the thirty possible scores that were given for these five groups, Highland Park Choirs received twenty-nine rating so "1" and only one "2."

Over 130 choir members worked in their classes to make sure they were academically eligible for this competition!  We'd like to send a special thank you to the four Highlander Band members who accompanied the Lads & Lassies, adding hours of extra practice to their schedules out of the goodness of their heart!  GO SINGING SCOTS!
