Do you treat children?

Absolutely. All of our staff members are trained to treat pediatric ailments and emergencies. Many of our doctors have trained in pediatric hospitals and trauma centers. Our facility is fully equipped to care for a broad spectrum of pediatric emergencies. We offer procedural sedation to make large laceration repairs, setting broken bones, spinal taps, or draining abscesses tolerable for children. 

Will I be seen by a physician or a physician's assistant?
We are only staffed by board certified Emergency Medicine physicians. We do not employ physician assistants or nurse practitioners. 

What are the wait times?
In general wait times are minimal. In the vast majority of cases, you will be seen by a doctor within 5-10 minutes of arrival. 

What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept all private/commercial insurance. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept government sponsored insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, CHIPs, or Tricare) at this time. We do accept travel insurance for those visiting from other countries. We also accept cash payments for those who wish to pay directly for care rendered. 

What types of payments do you accept?
We accept cash or credit card payments. 

Can I make an appointment?
No appointments are necessary. Feel free to walk in at any time- day or night. 

Do you treat Sexually Transmitted Diseases?
Yes we can discretely test for and treat a wide variety of sexually transmitted diseases. We offer an FDA approved HIV test with results available in about 15 minutes. 

What if I need to be admitted?
Highland Park Emergency Center will provide you with uninterrupted care while transferring you to a local hospital. We have built relationships with local hospitals and doctors to provide you with any necessary hospital care. We strive to have you admitted directly to a hospital room, bypassing the busy hospital based ER.
