A member of the Highland Park High School community is retiring, so a special celebration is being hosted for him on Sunday.

Former and current Highland Park High School students and their families are invited to attend a retirement party for trainer Doug Gibbins at 5 p.m. on July 1 in the school's cafeteria.

The event will honor Gibbins, who has been at Highland Park for nearly four decades, and a free meal of hot dogs, sausage links and chips will be provided by PlainsCapital Bank to the first 600 attendees. Also, cookies will be provided by Gibbins's daughter and granddaughters, and guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks.

Everyone who attends is asked to enter the cafeteria on the north side of the school from the parking lot off Douglas Avenue.
