“Cynthia Ann’s pieces come from such a personal, meaningful place, as each is hand-crafted from vintage medals,” said Kim Burgan, co-owner of Nine-Eighteen along with her brother, Darin Kunz. “Any piece from her line would make a special gift with year-round wearability.”
Nine-Eighteen’s trunk show will feature Cynthia Ann’s one-of-a-kind medals collection, which includes vintage medallions with religious meanings, such as those of St. Benedict, the Virgin Mary, and Guardian Angels; antique watch fobs (lovingly called “mantiques”); and vintage love tokens.

The Story Behind Cynthia Ann Jewels
Cynthia Ann’s inspiration for her signature one-of-a-kind medals goes back to the year 2000, as she was grieving the loss of her mother from cancer. It was during this difficult time that she made a trip to France. As she wandered through the streets of Paris, she was drawn into the many beautiful antique shops and local markets, where she uncovered a beautiful assortment of antique religious medals. She was very taken by the beauty and meaning of these medals. They reminded her of the strong faith her mom always had. As she rummaged through the medals, she felt a strong sense of her mother’s presence and knew at that moment that her mom would always be with her.
Over the next decade, Cynthia Ann continued to collect these medals throughout her European travels. When her precious father passed away, she knew it was time to share her amazing collection of religious medals. She began to truly grasp the meaning behind these medals: “Life is Short,” “Do What you Love,” “Pursue your Dreams,” and more. It was then that she began designing jewelry full-time.
Today, as Cynthia Ann pursues her love of design, the one-of-a-kind pieces have become an integral part of the collection; to say they have taken center stage is truly an understatement.
