The University Park Public Library has already been open for one year, and Park Cities library patrons are welcome to celebrate with a proper "anniversary" party on Jan. 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

I remember covering the library's grand opening and seeing the excitement of local residents when the highly-anticipated permanent book bank finally came to fruition, so it will be a treat to see the library observe one year of providing University Park readers with literary offerings.

Head over to UPPL this Saturday for an afternoon of fun in the Plaza at Preston Center location. Families are invited to enjoy face painting, Balloonytik Betty and refreshments including—what else?—cake.

Additionally, the talented Highlander Strings Quartet will make an appearance at the library with their classical stylings, and Susan McCormick's MIS/HPMS Playbill students are going to be dressed as favorite storybook characters.
