A library card is your child’s ticket to academic achievement.

Every parent wants his child to succeed, and one of the simplest ways you can ensure your child’s academic success is by making a quick trip to the Library.  September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the University Park Library and the Highland Park Library join with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that community members know how to access all their library has to offer by applying for a library card.

Students can turn to the library for materials and services that support academic achievement; they can also use their library cards from home.  Both libraries offer access to authoritative, educational online resources such as Searchasaurus for elementary school age children, EBSCO Student Research Center for youth in grades 6 to 12, Literary Reference Center for literary criticism, downloadable e-books and audio books and much more.  These resources are subscription-only and ad-free.

For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit the University Park Library at 8383 Preston Center Plaza, Suite 200, 214-363-9095, www.uptexas.org/government/up-public-library or the Highland Park Library at 4700 Drexel Drive, 214-559-9400, www.hplibrary.info.
