On Sunday, April 21, Zhen Music and Arts Institute, Dallas will host an opening reception in its new gallery space on West Lovers Lane with a Spring Art Show reception from 4-6:30 p.m.

The Spring Art Show titled Wonders will feature artworks by three local Park Cities artists – Beth Gandy, Amy Titus and Rebecca Bell-Wilson. Gandy will display her paintings, Titus her pottery and Bell-Wilson her photography.

The theme is inspired by everyday wonders as all three artists play with texture on different mediums.

The human form inspires Gandy’s paintings with bright colors and texture as she uses a palette knife with oil paints on canvas and linen. Titus’ pottery likes to test the boundaries between function and sculpture. Her pieces have a geometrical influence giving a more modern sculptural look. Bell-Wilson’s photography captures texture within landscapes, architecture and other everyday objects. In her photography she uses bokeh, playing with the focus on images that catch her eye.

Zhen Wu, Director of ZMAAI said, “I think the title Wonders really captures the essence of these three artists. You can tell from their works that they are all inspired by objects they come across in everyday life. Yet they have a way of expressing them in a unique way and sharing that talent through their artworks."

“I am excited to feature these talented local artists and promote the art scene in Dallas. I believe we can do this in a personal way, in a smaller, more intimate setting. Our new gallery builds on the foundation of our art school. It shows our students the phases of an artist from creating the artwork to displaying in a professional art show. Our students will get to the see the full circle of an artist’s work.”
