Daughters of World War II and World Affairs Council will host a memorable evening of music to honor WW II Veterans and Holocaust survivors on the 69th anniversary of V-E Day. Noted vocalist, Elisabeth von Trapp, granddaughter of the legendary Maria and Baron von Trapp, whose story inspired "The Sound of Music," will perform a benefit concert at the Dallas City Performance Hall on May 8 at 7 p.m.

Upon arriving in the U.S., her father and uncle immediately joined the Army and served in the 10th Mountain Division. Her performance will be a tribute to the veterans and survivors to commemorate this special anniversary.

V-E Day, or Victory in Europe Day, was the public holiday celebrated on May 8, 1945 to mark the date when the WWII Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany, thus ending the war in Europe.

Presenting Sponsors are Sherry and Kenny Goldberg. Community sponsors are Dallas Holocaust Museum Center for Education and Tolerance, DFW Honor Flight, City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, and Belmont Village Senior Living.

Proceeds will benefit Daughters of World War ll, whose mission is to honor all veterans of World War II and preserve their memories so future generations can know and understand the great sacrifices these men and women made to protect the freedom all Americans enjoy today.

Reservations are required as seating is very limited. World War II Veterans and Holocaust Survivors are complimentary. Daughters of WWII and World Affairs members and guests are $25. All others are $50.
