Michael Boone to receive Folsom Award. Michael Boone to receive Folsom Award.

Methodist Health System Foundation will present the 2012 Robert S. Folsom Leadership Award to skilled lawyer and dedicated community advocate Michael M. Boone at a dinner on October 30 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hilton Anatole Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. Established in 2005, the award recognizes individuals whose demonstrated commitment and excellence in community leadership emulates the achievements of former Dallas Mayor Robert S. Folsom.

Methodist Health System Foundation President and CEO April Box Chamberlain said, “Mike Boone is a brilliant and innovative businessman as well as a community leader. He is passionate about education and serves his community in so many ways. He embodies the Folsom Leadership Award, and we are honored to celebrate his achievements.”

Chamberlain also announced the chairman for the event. “We are also pleased to announce that Fred Hegi will chair this year’s Folsom Leadership Award. He knows Mike well, and his involvement will help make this a meaningful event and most importantly, support Methodist in providing excellent healthcare to our patients.”

Past Folsom Leadership Award recipients include Robert S. Folsom (2005), Nancy Ann Hunt (2006), Troy Aikman (2007), Laura Bush (2008), the late Norman Brinker (2009), Pat and Emmitt Smith (2010), and Trevor Rees-Jones (2011). As Methodist’s largest fundraiser, the Folsom events have raised more than $7 million over the past seven years to benefit Methodist Health System’s programs and services.

Proceeds from the 2012 Folsom Leadership Award will support the Neuro Critical Care Unit at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. This is particularly meaningful as Methodist strives each day to provide quality, compassionate health care to an ever-increasing number of disadvantaged families in the community who require specialized surgical treatment and neurological trauma care. Last year alone, Methodist provided $82 million in charity care.

This year’s sponsors of $10,000 or more will be invited to a Patron Party hosted by Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones on October 16.
