OCTOBER 16

INFORMATION REPORT 

At approximately 7:49 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 4500 block of Mockingbird Lane in response to a report of a possibly intoxicated female inside a parked vehicle. The officer observed damage to the woman's vehicle and found the woman asleep in her car with the doors locked. Although the officer could smell an alcoholic beverage on her person, there were no other signs consistent with intoxication. Her vehicle had to be impounded because it was blocking a driveway. 

BURGLARY OF BUILDING AND THEFT OF PROPERTY 

Police responded to a reported theft in the 3500 block of Princeton Avenue at approximately 7:52 AM. The victim stated that she believed someone had entered her detached garage overnight without consent and stolen four bicycles. The theft occurred at some point between 11:00 PM the night before and 7:30 the next morning. There were no signs of forced entry. 

CREDIT CARD TRANSACTION LAUNDERING 

At approximately 3:00 PM, an officer was called to the lobby of 4700 Drexel Drive to deal with a report of credit card abuse. The victim advised the officer that her 17-year-old daughter had been dealing with stalking and harassing behavior from a male classmate at her school. When the victim received her bank statement, it contained 13 unauthorized charges. She believes that her daughter's harasser may have copied the card's information from her daughter's purse. The charges on the card were for pizzas, which were delivered to the address of the stalker. 

FRAUDULENT USE OF IDENTIFYING INFORMATION 

A victim walked into the Highland Park Police Station at approximately 3:21 PM to report unauthorized usage of her credit card. The victim lives in the 4500 block of Abbott Avenue and stated that there was a fairly large charge on her credit card statement that she did not make. Someone had opened an account with an energy company last summer and had made one recent payment through it. The energy company told the victim that her number may have possibly been obtained through a gas station card skimmer.  


OCTOBER 17

FOUND PROPERTY 

Police responded to a report of a found bicycle in an alley behind the 3600 block of Potomac Avenue. The resident stated that she had found the bike but didn't know who it belonged to. It is the second bike that she has found in her alley recently, and she expressed concerns that someone is stealing bikes and dumping them behind her residence. Police asked her to report any suspicious activity in the future. 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

At approximately 11:24 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Potomac Avenue in response to a reported BMV. The victim stated that his wife woke him up at about 11:15 because she heard a noise in their front yard. The victim went outside and found that the rear hatch of his vehicle had been popped open. The doors were still locked but the glove box and other areas were in disarray. The third-row seats, some cash, some sunglasses, and some reading glasses had been stolen. 


OCTOBER 18 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

Police responded to the 3200 block of St. John's Drive in response to a BMV report at approximately 9:52 AM. The third-row seats of the victim's vehicle had been stolen.


OCTOBER 19 

IDENTITY THEFT 

At approximately 8:15 AM, police were dispatched to the lobby of the HPDPS to speak with a resident who reported that his identity had been stolen. The victim advised police that beginning on October 2, an unknown subject had opened two credit cards in the victim's name and made large purchases. On October 7, an unknown subject attempted to open another credit card but was unsuccessful. The victim's credit monitoring service notified him of the suspicious activity and he placed a freeze on his credit. 


OCTOBER 21 

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE 

Police were dispatched to the intersection of Preston Road and Mockingbird Lane at approximately 9:40 AM. The victim stated that she was stopped at a red light facing southbound on Preston Road when a vehicle pulled up behind her and lightly struck her vehicle's rear bumper. When the light turned green, the victim proceeded through the intersection and pulled over but the other vehicle continued southbound on Mockingbird without leaving any information or rendering aid. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

At approximately 5:19 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 4300 block of Livingston Avenue in response to the theft of a scooter. The victim stated that his nephew's scooter was stolen from in front of his house while he and his children were operating a lemonade stand down the street. The victim's neighbor stated that she saw a group of young men (ages 12-14) nearby about ten to fifteen minutes before the scooter was found to be missing and that one of them had been riding a scooter. 

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT 

An officer responded to a minor accident that occurred in the 4200 block of Lakeside Drive at approximately 10:38 PM. The victim stated that he was traveling west on Wycliff heading to a Halloween party when he was struck by another vehicle. The other vehicle was heading north on Lakeside through the intersection, and the victim believes he may have run the stop sign. The suspect's vehicle immediately left the scene without rendering aid or leaving any information. The victim was not able to learn the license plate number. 


OCTOBER 22

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT

At approximately 8:37 AM, police responded to an accident at the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and Mockingbird Lane. The victim's vehicle had heavy damage to the rear and front passenger quarter. Both subjects were alert but were also evaluated by EMS. It appears that the suspect vehicle was being driven by a potentially intoxicated male. The offending vehicle did not stop after the accident and immediately fled the scene without leaving any information. Police were able to identify the suspect. 

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT 

An officer responded to the 3600 block of Stratford Avenue at approximately 11:15 AM in response to an accident. The victim stated that at some point between the night of October 20 and the morning of October 21, someone had struck his legally parked vehicle outside of his residence. The victim did not see or hear anything, and the only piece of evidence left behind was a piece of a front bumper laying near the victim's vehicle.
