BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE
A police officer responded to the report of a vehicle burglary that occurred overnight in the alley behind the 4500 block of Abbott. The victim stated that between 10:30 PM the night before and 10:50 the next morning, an unknown individual had entered his vehicle without permission. An old garage door opener was the only thing taken, and someone's grey hoodie was left behind.
BURGLARY OF A HABITATION
At approximately 3:13 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 4400 block of Mockingbird Lane in response to a reported burglary. The victim stated that she left her front door unlocked so that her six-year-old daughter could let herself in after school. When the victim returned home at approximately 2:45 PM, she found that her house had been entered and that some things were in disarray. Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was missing and there are no suspects at the moment.
FOUND PROPERTY
An officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of Normandy Avenue in response to a reported BMV that occurred the night before. The victim stated that someone entered his vehicle between 11:00 PM the night before and 7:30 AM the next morning. Nothing was taken and the victim did not wish to create a report of criminal trespass, but he did state that a tan leather pouch containing a few items was left in his vehicle by someone. The pouch was booked into the property room.
OCTOBER 24
BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE
At approximately 6:09 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 3200 block of Beverly Drive on a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that an unknown person entered his vehicle and removed the third-row seat without permission. The offense occurred while the vehicle was parked outside of the victim's residence.
BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE
At approximately 8:30 AM, a police officer stopped by a resident's home in the 3400 block of Princeton to file a report on a stolen bicycle. The victim stated that an unknown person entered his attached garage and removed the bike without permission between 10:00 AM on October 19 and 6:00 AM on October 23.
OCTOBER 27
DUTY ON STRIKING UNATTENDED VEHICLE
A victim stated that her vehicle had been damaged while it was parked in the North Lot of the Highland Park Village. She did not know who damaged her vehicle and did not see the damage occur. It appears that a high profile vehicle pulled into or backed unsafely from the space on the victim's vehicle's passenger side, leaving scratches. The other driver did not leave the legally required information after the incident.
OCTOBER 29
DAMAGE TO TOWN PROPERTY
At approximately 9:21 AM, a police officer was dispatched to investigate a wrecked vehicle in the 3900 block of Potomac Avenue. The officer found that a vehicle had struck the brick safety wall at the westernmost end of Potomac. The vehicle was unoccupied, locked, and had both windows partly down. The vehicle was inventoried and impounded.
OCTOBER 30
DAMAGE TO PRIVATE PROPERTY
An officer observed a pickup truck in the 4400 block of Rheims Place with what appeared to be several subjects in the extended cab portion of the vehicle. At approximately 3:15 AM, the officer passed the vehicle and noticed it proceeded at a high rate of speed. The truck then ran a stop sign at the intersection of Armstrong Parkway and continued at a high speed. The truck eventually ran into a yard in the 4400 block of Belclaire Avenue, leaving divots on the east side of the residence. The officer attempted to initiate a stop but was unable to. It appears that the occupants ahd been planning to commit a property offense but had then fled when noticed by police.
