Carol Lanning, a TAG Specialist at Bradfield Elementary, has been named the Park Cities-Talented and Gifted group's Teacher of the Year.

Having a 35-year teaching career in the Highland Park school district, Lanning helped Bradfield Elementary start its Talented and Gifted program over 20 years ago.

"PC-TAG is honoring (Lanning) based on her capacity to inspire students, her commitment to staying informed about current educational theories and practices, and her deep commitment to the education of her students," according to PC-TAG's website.

Candidates from all seven Highland Park Independent School District campuses were nominated by faculty, parents and students for the recognition, which was given to Lanning.

PC-TAG is a non-profit organization that advocates for gifted students in Highland Park's school district.
