2017 La Fiesta Duchesses 2017 La Fiesta Duchesses

         The Order of the Flags announced the 2017 La Fiesta Duchesses, Escorts, and Beneficiaries at a French-inspired holiday reception on December 20 at the Belo Mansion and Pavilion.  Order of the Flags President Shelby Bush announced the forty duchesses and forty escorts who will be formally presented at the 32nd annual La Fiesta Presentation Gala.  La Fiesta Chairs Rebecca Gregory and Nancy Monning announced that the Gala, themed “La Fête Royale,” will be held on June 10, 2017 at the Fairmont Hotel.  

        Announcement Party Co-Chairs Polly McKeithen and Tracy Martin planned an evening to remember for 350+ friends and family as the college freshmen enjoyed reuniting with each other over the holiday break.  Guests were treated to croque monsieurs, nicoise salad kabobs, and mini chicken cordon bleu among a a lavish floral spectacle of topiaries and fresh flowers created by The Garden Gate.  The Park Version from Highland Park High School serenaded party-goers with French carols as they entered the party.

         La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas was founded in 1986 as the “Park Cities Festival Meeting Community Needs.”  It has since awarded nearly $8 million to selected beneficiaries that help meet the educational, cultural, and civic needs throughout the Park Cities area.  La Fiesta promotes neighborhood spirit by hosting special events designed to celebrate traditions and honor outstanding young ladies and gentlemen, while recognizing the unique heritage of our community.  Mary Hubbard, President of the La Fiesta Board of Directors, announced the recipients of this year’s allocated funds as:

 CARE (Chemical Awareness Resources & Education), Connecting Point of Park Cities, The Elisa Project, The Family Place – HPISD Be Project, Friends of the University Park Public Library, Habitat for Humanity – HPHS Campus Chapter, Highland Park Literary Festival, HP Arts, HPHS Community Service Council, HPHS Science Festival, HPHS Student Emergency Fund, Moody Family YMCA /Youth and Government, and the Park Cities Heritage House at Dallas Heritage Village.
