Highland Park High School freshman Alexandra Thornton clinched Silver in all three of her events at the 2015 USA Olympic Weightlifting Youth Nationals in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 28. As growing Alex continues to blast through weight classes, she paused in the 14-15 year old 53kg class long enough to grab silver medals in snatch, clean and jerk, and total.

She snatched 56kg (123.5 pounds), narrowly missing a youth national record attempt at 62kg (136.6 pounds) to an electrified audience.

She returned to the platform to clean and jerk a solid 72 kg (158.7 pounds) to post a rock solid 128kg (282 pound) total.

This was good enough for a trip to the podium for silver in all her events.

Her performance ranked her as the 4th best 14-15 year old female Olympic weightlifter in the nation.

This allowed her to receive an invitation to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado for the 15 and Under Elite Olympic Weightlifting Development Camp in July. Alex was able to see first hand the hard work and dedication put in by our American hopeful Olympiads, while receiving training and nutritional programs for the coming year.
