Flower Show Chair Catherine New Flower Show Chairman Catherine New with Junior Hostesses, who are daughters of current members.

The Junior Group of the Dallas Garden Club’s 68th annual Standard Flower Show and High Tea, Les Jardins de France, took place on Wednesday, April 9th at the home of Jan and Fred Hegi.

Flower Show Chairmen Catherine New, JGDGC President Sarah Stallings, and the Flower Show committee did a great job preparing for the festivities. Over 160 women attended this annual event, where members showcase their talents by submitting flower show entries in various categories. With gorgeous weather, festive entertainment, tea and refreshments, a great time was had by all.

Top Awards were given to: Emily Monning (Jane Riddle Lancaster Award and Designer’s Choice Ribbon for Most Outstanding exhibit in Designer’s Choice); Margaret Elizabeth McKissack (Patricia Noelting Quisenberry Award and Tricolor Ribbon for Most Outstanding exhibit in Tricolor); Joanne Gates (Mary Jo Rauscher Judge’s Choice Award and Masters’ Class Ribbon for Most Outstanding exhibit in Masters’ Class); and Victoria Cullum (Betty Aldredge Slater Award and Table Artistry Ribbon for Most Outstanding exhibit in Table Artistry).

Other main awards winners included: Bonner Allen, Carter Bill, Lindsay Billingsley, Catherine Brady, Jane Butler, Kendall Cluxton, Becky Cullum, Laura Dauterman, Laura Dunsavage, Alyson Engstrom, Mary Katharine Gill, Whitney Grogan, Elizabeth Helfrich, Laurie Henry, Bitsy Hudnall, Casey Kennington, Marianne Lynn, Merritt Marsh, Pleasant McCulloch, Tara McGraw, Catherine New, Catherine Olasky, Christine Paddock, Tully Phillips, Peyton Riley, Missy Saalfield, Stephanie Seay, Sarah Stallings, Allison Vanderwoude and Alicia Winn.

The Junior Group of the Dallas Garden Club was federated in 1946 and holds membership in National Garden Clubs, Inc. South Central Region, Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. District X, North Dallas Garden Forum and Dallas Council of Garden Clubs. Members meet several times a year to discuss gardening and flower arranging, and other social activities include a Cocktail Party, a Children’s Halloween Party, a Christmas Coffee, and a philanthropy project.
