Kaleidoscope Park, the 5.7-acre signature park in Frisco, will celebrate its grand opening, presented by Capital One, with activities scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. During the entire weekend, guests can find arts and entertainment experiences that are guaranteed to appeal to all.

Kaleidoscope Park Executive Director Shawn Jackson values all the hard work from the Kaleidoscope Park Foundation and its partners to create this spectacular weekend.

“This Grand Opening celebration is the culmination of years of work, not only by the Kaleidoscope Park team, but by our partners at HALL Park, the City of Frisco and Communities Foundation of Texas,” Jackson said. “We want Kaleidoscope Park to be a destination for North Texas and beyond for now and for generations to come. We look forward to creating dynamic programming and events for the entire community.”

Saturday’s events begin with yoga on the recreation lawn by Frisco health and wellness club Hunni Duoe at 8 a.m. and fun family activities and lawn games. Face painters, a petting zoo, and the Plano Symphony instrument petting zoo can be found from 9 a.m. to noon. Sci-Tech Discovery Center shares their brand of mind-stretching fun with a fun science demonstration on the main stage at 9 a.m. The popular Frisco Rotary Farmers Market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will return to the park weekly. Baylor Scott & White’s Dr. Afsha Kaisani will lead guests on a Walk with a Doc at 9 a.m.

At 11 a.m., all eyes will be on the main stage on the performance lawn for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony will be hosted by Kaleidoscope Park Executive Director Shawn Jackson and will feature special guests including Craig Hall of HALL Group, City of Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney, Carolyn Newham of Communities Foundation of Texas, Park board chair The Honorable Florence Shapiro, and featured park artist Janet Echelman.

Following the ribbon cutting, Echelman will lead park visitors for mini-talks about Butterfly Rest Stop, the dynamic aerial sculpture that is the visual centerpiece of Kaleidoscope Park. Guests can learn how this acclaimed artist harnessed both art and engineering to tell a beautiful story that is rooted in science. OJB landscape architects and designers, the designers of the park, will also offer tours of the unique features and landscape of the park.

On the family stage, visitors can enjoy a 2 p.m. magic show followed by other family-friendly activities throughout the day.

The day culminates at 7 p.m. when the Emerald City All-Stars, presented by Emerald City Band and sponsored by H-E-B, take to the stage on the performance lawn. Following the high-energy concert, guests can enjoy a spectacular drone show at 9 p.m.

On Sunday, the day begins with a morning meditation session at 10 a.m. and fun family lawn games on the recreation lawn.

The theme for the day’s Grand Opening activities will be art and music.
