McKinney Boyd 5th Annual Cross Country Meet The Lady Scots cross country team prepares for the Class 5A race to begin.

Even though the Highland Park High School girls cross country team is a 4A program, it can compete with anyone, including 5A schools.

The Lady Scots cross country team won the Class 5A/Elite race at the McKinney Boyd 5th Annual Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Myers Park in McKinney.

The cross country team chose to compete in the Class 5A/Elite race at the meet, and it claimed the first place title. Lady Scots runner Natalie Rathjen finished first overall in the two-mile race with a time of 11:27.9 and beat the second place finisher by 8 seconds.

The Lady Scots also competed in the Class 4A race at the meet, and the team came in third place. All seven team members who ran placed in the top 10 percent of all the 4A race finishers.
