Highland Park High School lineman Tanner Stone received the honor of being selected a first-team offensive player for the 2011 Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 4A all-state high school football team, which was released Dec. 14.

Voters chose players based on how they performed during the regular season.

Stone had a great senior year on the team, helping the Scots' offense average 463 yards per game. He has committed to play college football for the Duke Blue Devils next season.

Three other Highland Park players also received recognition for their achievements on the field this past season.

Senior running back Preston Miller was selected to be a part of the honorable mention offense, while senior linebacker Mason Shaw and senior defensive back Mark Gottsacker were named honorable mention defensive players.

The Scots finished the 2011-12 season with a 12-1 record, losing to Tyler John Tyler in the semifinals round of the playoffs.
