The Texas Music Educators Association has selected three Highland Park High School students to be a part of the All-State Band.

Highlander Band members Elliott Clayton, a senior clarinet player; Preston Luthy, a junior bass trombone player; and Luke Palter, a junior trumpet player, were awarded with All-State honors and will perform at the 2012 Texas Music Educators Association Convention in concert on Feb. 11 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

"Being selected to the Texas All-State Band puts these young men in the top 1 percent of our state's student instrumentalists," said Reagan Brumley, HP's director of bands. "This honor goes beyond great talent by requiring dedicated, disciplined practice. These students are wonderful representatives of the Highlander Band, and I'm incredibly proud of their work."

The Highlander Band members who earned the All-State honors will spend three days rehearsing for the concert under the direction of "nationally recognized" conductors.

Also, this is the second time Clayton has been selected to perform with the All-State Band.
