Over the years, almost no program has proven to be as popular with audiences and members of the MWE than the annual Classics program. This year’s version of the Classics will feature performances of two seminal compositions from the past century, Aaron Copland’s iconic Fanfare for the Common Man and Ingolf Dahl’s Sinfonietta, as well as two works from the present century that are well on their way to similar status: Augusta Read Thomas’ dynamic fanfare Ring, Flourish, Blaze! and Kevin Day’s answer to Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra, the equally virtuosic Concerto for Wind Ensemble.
