More than 150 years ago, on April 15, 1874, the first impressionist exhibition opened in Paris. "Hungry for independence," Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Pissarro, Sisley and Cézanne finally decided to free themselves from the rules by holding their own exhibition, outside official channels, and impressionism was born.

Keeping this historic date in mind, Alan Barnes fine art is delighted to welcome American impressionist John Modesitt to its Dallas studio for an exhibition now through August 8th.

Modesitt's paintings are easy on the eye, and viewers and collectors alike, gravitate towards the world from his perspective, revealing beauty and drama in everyday scenes. With a deep-rooted connection to his years studying the masters of Impressionism, John's coastal paintings demonstrate a profound grasp of light, color, and emotion, influenced by both artistic tradition and personal experiences.

Modesitt is one of the most versatile and well loved artists to have ever worked with Alan Barnes Fine Art, and we highly recommend these paintings to our new and seasoned collectors. The exhibition is available to view by appointment, Monday through Saturday. To schedule an appointment, email info@alanbarnesfineart.com or call 214.828.1311. To see more of Modesitt's work, visithttps://www.flipsnack.com/AlanBarnesFineArt/abfa-filpbook-uisv8f3tk5/full-view.html. For more information, http://www.alanbarnesfineart.com.

The Asian Cultural and Educational Society USA (ACAESUSA) Conference was successfully held in Washington, D.C., and virtually on June 27-28, 2024. The conference, themed "Bridging Cultures, Empowering Future," aimed to promote cultural understanding, empower youth, facilitate networking, and inspire positive change.(For more details about the conference, please visit the ACAESUSA website. https://acaesusa.org/acaesusa-conference

The Asian Cultural and Educational Conference thrived thanks to the dedication of the ACAES Conference Preparation Committee members and volunteers. As a community partner of UCA, we are particularly grateful for the commitment of Mrs. Sharon Chang, a founding member of United Chinese Americans (UCA) and a member of the UCA Community Foundation (UCACF) Executive and Review Committees. Mrs. Chang's presence throughout the conference infused the students with encouragement. She actively participated in the awards ceremony, celebrating the young participants' achievements, and provided guidance for their future philanthropic efforts.

The UCA Community Foundation’s commitment to empowering the Chinese American community extends beyond this conference. They offer vital financial assistance through microgrants ranging from $500 to $5,000, specifically targeting innovative and impactful initiatives. These projects encompass civic engagement, mental health support, cultural heritage preservation, and youth development. Additionally, the UCA Community Foundation recognizes the importance of fostering understanding and building bridges between the Chinese American and American communities, a critical effort in combating hate crimes.

To be eligible for a UCA Community Foundation grant, projects must be sponsored by a 501(c)(3) local community organization and align with the Foundation's mission. Projects with significant and broad social impact are prioritized. The UCA Community Foundation champions innovative and creative approaches that hold the potential to generate positive social change on a large scale.

We were deeply honored to have Mrs. Chang address the conference and share her encouraging words with both children and parents. The UCA Community Foundation’s unwavering commitment and support are a testament to the power of philanthropy in enriching lives and building a stronger community.

As the president of the Asian Culture and Education Society, Jan Xie, said, "We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of our volunteers and the UCA Community Foundation (UCACF). Your tireless efforts and commitment have been instrumental in making the Asian Cultural and Educational Conference a resounding success. The enthusiasm and hard work of each volunteer, combined with UCACF's generous support and guidance, have created an inspiring and enriching experience for all participants. Together, we have fostered a spirit of community, learning, and cultural celebration that will have a lasting impact. Thank you for your invaluable contributions, and we look forward to continuing our partnership and achieving even greater milestones in the future."

Interested in receiving IV Therapy? IV therapy ensures that essential vitamins and minerals are promptly delivered to the bloodstream.

Imagine a busy executive racing to meet endless commitments while battling fatigue and diminished focus.

In their demanding world, energy levels and mental clarity are essential for peak performance and success.

IV therapy offers an innovative solution by delivering essential nutrients directly to the bloodstream, revitalizing individuals with unmatched efficiency.

Immediate Nutrient Delivery

Unlike traditional oral supplements, which require time for digestion and absorption, IV therapy ensures that essential vitamins and minerals are promptly delivered to the bloodstream. This rapid delivery system allows individuals to experience immediate benefits, such as increased energy and enhanced mental clarity, solidifying its role as a preferred choice for those seeking prompt and effective nutrient replenishment.

Rapid Hydration

Rapid hydration is essential for maintaining optimal health in various situations, particularly during illness or intense physical exertion.

The human body can absorb up to 90% of nutrients delivered via an IV infusion.

Unlike oral hydration methods, IV therapy introduces fluids directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This allows for quicker and more efficient rehydration, crucial during dehydration emergencies.

IV therapy can offer immediate relief from the symptoms of dehydration—boosting energy levels, enhancing cognitive function, and supporting overall physical performance. For those in need, it proves to be an invaluable resource for health optimization.

Quick Energy Boost

IV therapy provides an immediate energy boost by delivering essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system entirely.

  • Vitamin B12: Enhances energy levels and reduces fatigue

  • Magnesium: Supports energy production and muscle function

  • Vitamin C: Boosts immunity and overall vitality

  • Amino Acids: Promote muscle recovery and endurance

This method ensures that the body can utilize nutrients promptly, leading to an almost instant improvement in energy levels.

Individuals report feeling revitalized and more focused within minutes of treatment, making it a popular choice for busy professionals and athletes alike.

Enhanced Wellness

IV therapy underscores enhanced wellness, a testament to its transformative capabilities. Patients often find their hydration levels improved, which is pivotal for optimal bodily functions. By providing instant access to vital fluids, IV therapy restores the body's equilibrium, fortifying its overall health resilience.

In addition to hydration, recipients of IV therapy frequently experience improved skin clarity and elasticity. Such outcomes align well with the body's higher absorption rates of essential vitamins and minerals. Indeed, the commitment to their health sees them reaping this holistic wellness, which strengthens their journey toward comprehensive well-being.

Immune Support

IV therapy provides substantial benefits for bolstering the immune system, ensuring that individuals can ward off illnesses more effectively.

  1. Rapid Nutrient Delivery: Essential vitamins and minerals are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

  2. Boosted Immunity: Vitamin C, zinc, and other immune-strengthening agents enhance the body’s defensive capabilities.

  3. Increased Energy: Lesser illness means a higher reserve of energy for daily activities.

  4. Improved Hydration: Proper hydration supports immune function, enabling cells to work efficiently.

  5. Antioxidant Support: Helps eliminate toxins, reducing oxidative stress and promoting overall immune health.

Such targeted nutrient delivery is unparalleled, offering immediate and noticeable health benefits.

IV therapy empowers individuals by proactively enhancing their immune responses.

This approach ensures they are well-equipped to face daily health challenges with confidence and vigor.

Detoxification

IV therapy excels in removing toxins from the body through efficient delivery of essential nutrients.

In recent years, there has been increased interest in detoxifying the body to achieve optimal health. Detoxification via IV therapy involves administering high doses of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Such treatments provide powerful agents that work effectively to cleanse the bloodstream and remove harmful substances. By bypassing the digestive system, these nutrients are delivered directly to the cells in need.

This method ensures that the body can rapidly eliminate toxins, improve liver function, and enhance overall wellness. The positive impact on skin health, energy levels, and mental clarity is often profound.

Through detoxification, IV therapy promotes a cleaner, healthier internal environment, helping individuals feel revitalized.

Improved Recovery

IV therapy significantly accelerates recovery by delivering nutrients directly into the bloodstream. Athletes, post-surgical patients, and those recovering from illness or injury can benefit from this efficient method of nutrient delivery.

This expedited process enhances cell regeneration, thereby improving overall recovery times. It supports the body's natural healing mechanisms more effectively.

Athletic Performance

For athletes, achieving peak performance while maintaining optimal health is paramount. IV therapy is an effective strategy to support these goals.

  1. Hydration: Rapid replenishment of fluids, essential for muscle function and endurance.

  2. Nutrient Delivery: Direct infusion of vitamins and minerals that promote energy production and reduce fatigue.

  3. Recovery Enhancement: Accelerates muscle recovery through immediate nutrient availability, minimizing downtime.

  4. Anti-Inflammatory Benefits: Reduces inflammation and speeds healing, essential for those with intense training regimens.

  5. Boosted Immune Function: Strengthens the immune system, helping athletes remain healthy and perform consistently.

By addressing these critical areas, IV therapy contributes to superior athletic performance.

Ultimately, this approach ensures that athletes can train harder, recover faster, and compete at their highest level.

Hangover Relief

IV therapy is renowned for its effectiveness in alleviating hangover symptoms. Individuals often seek professional IV therapy as a quick, reliable solution after a night of excessive indulgence, recognizing the immediate benefits of such treatment.

The precision of IV therapy allows for a tailored approach to rehydrate the body, replenish depleted nutrients, and detoxify the liver. This method bypasses the digestive system, facilitating a rapid absorption of essential vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes that counteract the debilitating effects of a hangover.

Furthermore, IV therapy offers the advantage of mitigating symptoms like nausea, headache, fatigue, and dizziness. By delivering hydration and nutrients directly into the bloodstream, it provides prompt relief, enabling individuals to swiftly return to their daily responsibilities with renewed vigor.

Ultimately, utilizing IV therapy for hangover relief underscores a commitment to holistic well-being. It empowers individuals to reclaim their productivity and outlook, ensuring that the aftermath of a social occasion does not compromise their functionality or optimism for the day's potential.

Customizable Treatments

IV therapy's customizable treatments offer patients a tailored experience, addressing their unique health needs. Physicians ensure that each individual receives precisely what their body requires, whether it is for hydration, nutrient replenishment, immune support, or energy enhancement, resulting in optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Personalized Nutrient Mix

IV therapy offers personalized nutrient mixes.

These custom blends are meticulously crafted by medical professionals to suit individual needs. By analyzing the specific health profile and deficiencies of the patient, a bespoke combination of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients is administered, ensuring maximum efficacy. Consequently, a personalized nutrient mix can significantly enhance the therapeutic impact of IV therapy sessions.

Such precision in treatment amplifies benefits.

Receiving the exact proportions of nutrients tailored to their body can expedite recovery and boost overall health.

Ultimately, these personalized nutrient mixtures foster a pathway toward optimal well-being. Tailoring treatment plans not only maximizes health benefits but also furthers the patient's journey to achieving peak performance and fortified resilience. With advancements in healthcare technology and personalized medicine, IV therapy continues to be a transformative solution for many.

Targeted Health Needs

IV therapy addresses specific health requirements.

By focusing on individual health needs, IV therapy provides a crucial advantage. Patients receive targeted solutions designed to meet their unique physiological needs, optimizing nutrient absorption and efficacy. Unlike generic treatments, this method ensures that each individual obtains the precise nutrients necessary for their condition.

This transcends traditional supplementation.

Custom formulations can support recovery from illness, boost immune function, and enhance overall vitality.

The specificity of IV therapy makes it an excellent choice for athletes seeking to enhance performance, individuals requiring rapid rehydration, or anyone combating deficiencies.

Together, these benefits demonstrate the unparalleled potential of IV therapy in catering to targeted health demands, paving the way for personalized healthcare solutions that improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

Summer is the season of many adventures and much advice on keeping kids busy to avoid boredom and survive summer. However, for the next two minutes, I’d like you to be bored with me. Be bored: think, stare, huff and puff. Within those two minutes, you may find yourself restless, thinking, ruminating and problem solving about how to end the boredom. Hooray! You’re bored!

Boredom is a gift.

Boredom is a gift rarely given to children. Boredom is empowering! It allows children to persevere through nothingness to get to somethingness. (Very Seussical!) Invention rises out of moments of transition and inaction. Sculptor Anish Kapoor says, “I've learned over the years… that it’s precisely in those moments when I don’t know what to do, boredom drives one to try.”

How to be bored?

  • Model boredom: Show kids that it's okay to be bored sometimes. Engage in quiet activities yourself, like reading, drawing, or simply sitting and thinking, to demonstrate that boredom can be a natural and positive part of life.
  • Schedule downtime: This can be a period after school or on weekends where children can relax and find their own ways to stay entertained (sans technology!)
  • Go on a walk: Walking encourages activity without intended result. The slower pacing allows new thoughts to creep in, nature to be noticed and considered, or a problem to be solved.
  • Create a "Boredom Space": Designate a space in your home where kids can go when they feel bored. Stock it with open-ended toys, art supplies and books to inspire creativity and independent play.

It takes two to make a thing go right!

Both structure and boredom are equally important. Benjamin Franklin, who was a gifted inventor, published his schedule that included both focused work and time to “Put things in their places, supper, music or diversion, conversation, examination of the day.” With a little of both, a survivable summer awaits with a little added sprinkle of invention.

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!"

— Dr. Seuss

The nonprofit Broadway Dallas is best known for presenting the most popular and critically acclaimed touring Broadway shows to North Texas audiences, including the most recent national tours of HAMILTON and HAIRSPRAY.  Broadway Dallas also takes very seriously its mission to support and uplift underserved members of the Dallas community.

To that end, during the five-week engagement of HAMILTON, Broadway Dallas asked theatergoers to donate dental hygiene products to support its partner CitySquare, the Dallas-based nonprofit that aims to fight the causes and effects of poverty through service, advocacy and friendship.  The result was an astounding 232 pounds of donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouth wash and more.

CitySquare's mission resonates deeply with Broadway Dallas, which is committed to not only entertaining but also giving back to the community it serves. In 2024, Broadway Dallas proudly supports CitySquare by organizing donation drives at each of its performances throughout the season. This ongoing collaboration underscores Broadway Dallas's dedication to making a positive impact beyond the stage curtains.

Additionally, during the engagement of the national Broadway tour of HAIRSPRAY, Broadway Dallas hosted a donation drive to collect hair care items for CitySquare. Patrons donated more than 350 bottles of shampoo and conditioner plus hundreds of brushes, ribbons, hair ties and of course, cans of hairspray. HAIRSPRAY, known for its infectious energy and message of inclusivity, was the perfect performance for Broadway Dallas to channel its community-focused initiatives. By collecting hair care products during the show's run, Broadway Dallas aims to make a meaningful contribution to CitySquare's mission.

Dallasites are invited to indulge in an evening of exquisite flavors and rare wines at Margaret’s within the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District Friday, July 12 in exclusive partnership with the Kelleher Family Vineyard in Oakville, CA.

The evening will begin with a conversation about the hyper boutique vineyard, established on a 16-acre property in 1994, with Valerie Kelleher Herzog, owner of the vineyard, Margaret’s sommelier Joel Tennyson and Executive Chef Jonah Friedmann, who has designed an elaborate five course menu inspired by the flavor profiles of six wines exclusive to the hotel and restaurant.

The event will begin at 6:30pm on Friday, July 12 at Margaret’s, located on the 11th floor of JW Marriott Dallas Arts District at 800 North Harwood Street. Tickets to the exclusive dinner are $300 per person.

The conversation will continue throughout the meal, highlighting the distinct characteristics of the local terroir influence the blends, and how these nuances harmoniously echo in the dishes created by Chef Friedmann.

“We are thrilled for guests to experience the flavor of these wines, so heavily influenced by the land on which they are produced, paired with our menu made with ingredients sourced within 80 miles of the hotel,” said Executive Chef Jonah Friedmann. “It’s the best of both hyper local experiences presented with the technique driven cuisine, precise service, and elegant presentation associated with fine dining of this level.”

Not available anywhere else in the state of Texas, bottles of the Kelleher Family Vineyards vintages will be available at winery retail prices.

Among those offered with the meal are a 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon with an interesting history including eucalyptus trees installed as wind barriers to protect the vines and a 2021 Rosé of Pinot Noir created specially for one of the Kelleher family children’s nuptials, never before available outside of Napa Valley.
