Depot on Main

Merriman Anderson Architects (MAA) announces the completion of a multifamily project in Burleson, Texas, called The Depot on Main. The project features two five-story apartment buildings totaling 275 units and amenities such as a pool with dining areas and grills; a fitness center with retractable garage windows to create an indoor and outdoor space; rooftop deck lounge which includes a pool table and bar space that opens onto an outdoor entertainment terrace; locally painted brick murals that tie into the surrounding old town district; a coworking lounge with a private conference room, booth seating with integrated power, various lounge seating groups throughout, and a coffee bar. The property also provides six Live/Work units on the ground floor with sidewalk access. MAA provided architecture, interior design, and FF&E services.

The Depot on Main is conveniently located adjacent to the Old Town district of Burleson at the northwest corner of King and Main streets, only a five-minute walk to numerous restaurants and retail stores. Inspired by the town’s historic railway, MAA implemented a modern industrial design style with black finishes, and materials such as wood, dark metal and steel warmed with brick featured throughout the space. Linear lights replicating train lights, a train depot station wall covering and subtle nods to the Old Town district of Burleson were also incorporated in the public areas through artwork and accessories.

One and two-bedroom unit options ranging in size from 590 to 1,229 square feet are available with quartz countertops and high-end appliances, as well as two different unit design schemes. One of the schemes features lighter finishes, and the other darker finishes, both coinciding with the rest of the buildings’ design.

“It was important to our team to provide residents with a space that connects to the surrounding community and rich history of Burleson and is a comfortable, aesthetically pleasing place to live,” says Milton Anderson, President of Merriman Anderson Architects. “We are thrilled to see that goal come to fruition in The Depot on Main.”

Realty Capital Residential is the developer, and Muckleroy & Falls is the contractor for the project.

Two one-hour tours will be held at 3 pm and 4 pm on Friday, April 26. During the tours there will be a special reveal of McLaren road cars which commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Johnny Rutherford’s first Indy 500 win.

In addition to providing an inside look into the world of McLaren, on hand will be members of the McLaren Americas executive team. Space is limited and RSVPs will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. To secure a spot for this exclusive tour, RSVP at LINK HERE.

The 31,000 square foot facility features a state-of-the-art workshop, training facilities, and the McLaren Special Operations brand center for bespoke customer specification sessions. This unique opportunity allows guests to learn the inner workings of McLaren and witness the craftmanship and innovation that goes into creating these iconic supercars. The facility showcases the latest McLaren models and provides insight into the meticulous process of customization for customers.

McLaren Automotive is a producer of ultra high-performance, lightweight supercars. Launched in 2010, the company is now the largest part of the McLaren Group.

Headquartered at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, Surrey, England, McLaren Automotive is driven by the challenge of creating the world’s most exhilarating, engaging and benchmark setting vehicles. Leveraging the McLaren name’s 60-year history of authentic, racing performance, it has delivered some of the most spectacular supercars ever made.

The company’s product portfolio of GTS, supercar, Motorsport and Ultimate models are retailed in over 40 markets around the world. Its cars are assembled by hand at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC), based on the same campus as MTC in Woking.

McLaren is a pioneer that continuously pushes the boundaries. In 1981, it introduced lightweight and strong carbon fibre chassis technology into Formula 1 with the McLaren MP4/1.

Then in 1993 it designed and built the legendary McLaren F1 road car. Built around a carbon fibre chassis, it established McLaren’s supercar DNA, realized for the 21st century in 2011 with the introduction of the McLaren 12C – McLaren Automotive’s first production car.

McLaren was the first to deliver a hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™, in 2013. Launching the Ultimate Series of vehicles, P1™ was followed by the McLaren Senna in 2018 and its track-only GTR derivative followed a year later. 2019 also saw the introduction of the Speedtail hybrid hyper-GT. Its most recent Ultimate model, Elva, is the lightest McLaren road car ever.

McLaren’s LT models represent the ultimate expression of track performance in series production supercars. The name stems from the ‘Longtail’ version of the F1 GTR, introduced in 1997, and was incorporated into McLaren Automotive nomenclature in 2015 with the arrival of the McLaren 650S-based 675LT coupe and Spider. In 2018, the LT legend continued with the McLaren 570S-based 600LT. The latest chapter in the LT story was written in 2020 and 2021, with the introduction of the 765LT coupe and Spider.

Also in 2021, the company unveiled its all-new high-performance hybrid supercar, the McLaren Artura. The Artura is the first McLaren to benefit from the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA). The MCLA is designed, developed and manufactured at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre in the Sheffield region of England using world-first processes and will spearhead the brand’s electrified future

2022 saw McLaren announce the Solus GT, a single-seat, closed-cockpit track car which brought to life a futuristic concept that was originally created for virtual gaming.

In 2023, McLaren unveiled its lightest and most powerful series-production supercar, the 750S – a thorough development of the award-winning 720S supercar. McLaren also introduced the new GTS, replacing the McLaren GT.

The McLaren Artura Spider was revealed in early 2024 as the brand’s first high-performance hybrid convertible. Its introduction was part of a major model year uplift for the Artura nameplate, and meant McLaren’s series-production line-up of GTS, new Artura and 750S had been introduced within 12 months of each other.

McLaren Automotive also chooses to partner with like-minded, world-leading companies and organizations who push the boundaries in their respective fields. These include Ashurst, Bowers & Wilkins, Dynisma, Gulf, Monroe, Pirelli, Plan International, Richard Mille and Tumi.

The McLaren Group is a global leader in luxury automotive and elite motorsports with a focus on its Automotive supercar and Racing businesses.

Founded in 1963 by racer, engineer and entrepreneur Bruce McLaren, the Group is formed of McLaren Automotive, which hand-builds lightweight supercars; and a majority stake in McLaren Racing which competes in the Formula 1 World Championship and INDYCAR in the US.

The Group is globally headquartered at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, England.

With a reputation for innovation and technological excellence, McLaren is one of the UK’s largest independent companies.

Margaret’s, the three-meal ranch-to-table restaurant at JW Marriott Dallas Arts District, unveils both an all-new dry aged beef program and spring inspired dishes to its breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner menus. The restaurant’s location on the hotel’s 11th floor offers prime views of the Dallas Arts District and surrounding skyline, providing a memorable backdrop for business lunches, dinner before performances in surrounding venues, and brunch before strolling through local museums.

Beginning April 11, guests may experience Executive Chef Jonah Freidmann’s most anticipated addition to Margaret’s offerings, the new dry aged beef program. Aged for 35 days in house, each Texas-grown beef dish is served with a bone marrow twice baked mashed potato , served in the bone, in addition to accompaniments associated with traditional sauces and serving styles. Dry age options include the Diane, the Au Poivre, the Oscar and the Florentine, for which the aging process can be viewed in a fully automatic, self-sustaining glass-front dry aging chamber lined with Himalayan salt located in the restaurant’s dining room.

“Dry aged beef is a must try for every Texan especially as grilling season approaches, and we’re proud to introduce this new section of our menu that has been a vision for Margaret’s since the beginning,” Chef Friedmann said. “Our Dry Ager USA system allows guests to witness the process of aging which tenderizes and adds umami to the flavor of the steak; this is a well loved technique for a reason that you typically associate with steakhouses. These dishes are a great compliment to our composed, artistically inspired menu for those who want a steak - and want it prepared the best way possible.”

Chef Friedmann has also designed new appetizers, entrees and desserts for each of the restaurant’s menus utilizing locally sourced ingredients and herbs and produce grown on site in the JW Garden, either in planters located outside at Vincent’s Sky Bar or in the hydroponic FarmShelf unit, both pruned and harvested by Chef Friedmann and his team.

Guests may begin their dinner with vegetarian spring hand rolls, fresh Bloomsdale spinach crepes filled with locally grown mushrooms from Texas Fungus, spring potatoes, heirloom lettuce and a delicate peanut sauce or a spring tomatoburrata with smoked peach, chamomile tomato tea, and basil.

Dinner menu highlights include the poached lobster, served atop aji amarillo and chorizo oat risotto with courgette, white currant, charred asparagus and drizzled lightly with marigold oil, and emberred quail, a nettle mussolini stuffed quail served with braised leeks and huckleberry-elderflower glaze. The coconut and curry vermicelli is another delicious vegan option added to the menu featuring spring farm vegetables, marble potatoes, vadouvan and Texas Fungus mushrooms.

New additions to the lunch menu include a smoked tomato gazpacho complete with crab salad, marcona almonds and a drizzle of chili crisp, a southwest chicken wrap served in a chipotle tortilla, reuben sandwich with wagyu pastrami, and an elevated fish and chips with beer battered halibut served alongside spiced gaufrette potatoes, charred lemon, slaw and bearnaise aioli for dipping.

The strategic partnerships with local vendors, farms, and ranches continue as the restaurant approaches its first anniversary in July. Beef partners include 44 Farms, Wagyu X, and Allen Brothers and bagels enjoyed during breakfast and brunch are baked fresh daily at Lubbie’s Bagels in East Dallas. Desserts served during lunch include slices of pie from Emporium Pies and a selection of gelatos from Botolino Gelato, both Dallas founded, owned and operated businesses.

“The combination of ingredients grown on site and within an eighty mile radius of the hotel allow us to provide our guests with an eclectic variety of dishes with an undeniably Texan influence,” Friedmann added. “I hope our guests are able to immerse themselves in the cuisine through our open design, centerpiece finishing station, and the dry aging and FarmShelf units which allow them to see their meals created from start to finish.”

Margaret’s is nestled amidst the Dallas skyline, ideally located in the heart of the United States’ largest contiguous arts district. Floor to ceiling windows along the perimeter of the space offer ideal views of the surrounding neighborhood though views around sunset are particularly stunning. The restaurant includes a soft seating lounge, 20-seat bar, and private dining space ideal for hosting meaningful moments with family or colleagues in spring and summer months.

“We look forward to fresh spring dishes and the eye-catching dry aged beef program to be enticing options for both local guests and those visiting us from out of town, looking to experience upscale, creative cuisine in the city’s largest cultural hub,” General Manager Mike Culver said.

Reservations for Margaret’s may be made on OpenTable.

Oak Cliff nonprofit Flamenco Fever’s insightful Fusion Series will present Tres Artes: Pintura, Poesia y Pasion – The Painter and the Poet, a story of Forbidden Love on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at the Annette Strauss Square in the Dallas Arts District, located at 2403 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201. Tickets are on sale at attpac.org.

As part of the 2024 season of Elevator Project at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, the performance features internationally renowned musicians and dancers along with local artists taking the stage to tell the tragic love story of painter Salvador Dalí and martyred Spanish poet, playwright and flamenco aficionado, Federico Garcia Lorca. Featuring conceptual choreography, elegant costuming and incredible live music, the work delves deeply into the provocative history of Spain and the rise of Surrealism, the LGBTQ community and the Fascist Franconian Regime in the early 20th century. War scene pyrotechnics are provided by Fempyre.

Pintura, Poesia y Pasion combines four dynamic art forms – live music, dance, the visual art of Rolando Diaz and the recitation of Garcia Lorca’s poetry – into an unforgettable performance. In this sophisticated evening, Diaz will visually capture the vibrant essence of the flamenco arts on canvas by utilizing line and color, while exploring and capturing the parallels of political and social oppression throughout history.

Directed by Flamenco Fever founder Julia Alcantara, the production features an acclaimed cast including Joseph Gonzales as Salvador Dali, Jorge Robledo as Federico Garcia Lorca, and Julia Alcantara as Lorca's friend, La Argentinita. Providing musical accompaniment is Marcos Bastian (singer and Guitarist) and Luckie ‘Abejorro’ (performing on guitar, cajon and baile).

Flamenco Fever produces nearly 70 performances annually, each accompanied by requisite live music. The dance troupe landed Dallas on the world map during the summer of 2023 when they were the first American company in Spanish history to be invited to perform at the prestigious Festival Flamenco Internacional in Malaga, Spain. Flamenco Fever arranged for the entire cast of "Memorias Flamencas" to perform in Spain, the birthplace of flamenco, and to collaborate with some of the genre’s greatest artists.

Tickets are $29.50 each at attpac.org. For more information, go to flamencofever.org.

He has competed and performed all over the U.S. and is currently ranked third in the world with his professional dance partner, Brenda Lamon.

JULIA ALCANTARA – DIRECTOR/PRODUCER AS LORCA'S FRIEND "LA ARGENTINITA
Alcantara has been bringing the best of flamenco music and dance to North Texas since 1998. She performed in The Dallas Opera’s production of La Vida Breve at the Palace Theater for the Performing Arts in San Francisco and the World Cup Opening Ceremonies, Spain vs South Korea. Alcantara interpreted Ravel’s Bolero for the Irving Symphony Orchestra in their “Dallas Treasures” concert. She was the first and only American producer to be invited to take an entire production to the birthplace of Flamenco. Last summer, she took her entire cast of "Memorias Flamencas" to Spain to collaborate with some of flamenco's greatest artists.

MARCOS BASTIAN SINGER/GUITARIST

He has toured across Spain and Europe performing in Finland and DuBai with artists like La Tania, David “El Galli”, Antonio Marseille and Ezequiel Reina.

LUCKIE ‘ABEJORRO’ – GUITAR, CAJON AND BAILE
Abejorro is a key artistic support to the Flamenco Fever. His experience as a musician covers more than 20 years of guitar, bass and hand percussion. Since 2015, he has learned the basics of each type of flamenco palo by accompanying the dancers on cajon, then dancing for five years until he finally dove into guitar with the various guest artists that have come to teach over the years. After nine years of study, he made his debut last year as Dallas’ newest flamenco guitarist accompanying singing and dancing for Sevillanas, Tangos, Alegrias, Tientos, Guajira and various Villancicos during the holiday season.
