Varsity Volleyball coach Laura Gomez officially holds the most wins in a single varsity sport in ESD's athletic history. In her 17th season with the school this year, Coach Gomez surpassed the original record of 322 wins, previously held in varsity soccer, and now has 335 wins with the volleyball team.

This year's Volleyball captains Kristen Leland '18, who has committed to play volleyball at the collegiate level next year for UVA, Izzy Siragusa '18, and Kathryn Smith '18 are thrilled with their coach's historic achievement.

"Coach Gomez not only has coached me to be a better player but a better person as well both on and off the court," says Smith. "She gets us to believe in ourselves and inspires us to do more than we think we can. I have learned so much from her and I am so grateful for everything she has done for our team and for ESD volleyball."

Last year Coach Gomez reached her milestone 300th varsity win with ESD against Dallas Christian Academy, and with another season full of wins under her belt, she has no plans on stopping anytime soon.
