In Keenen Ivory Wayans’ lauded 1988 blaxploitation comedy, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, Chris Rock asks the legendary question, “How much for one rib?” At Kenny’s Burger Joint, the answer is $2.50. Every Tuesday, the acclaimed burger destination smokes meaty St. Louis-style ribs and sells them by the bone. However, for those who desire a few more ribs, Kenny’s Burger Joint has launched Kenny’s Rib-Eating Challenge.

BBQ lovers are invited to try the new eating challenge with advance reservation. The challenge is simple – eat as many ribs as you can in just one hour. However, there’s a catch. To make the leaderboard, diners must complete the first 30 ribs in 30 minutes. Then, challengers can continue to eat to advance their position on the leaderboard. Those who finish 30 ribs in 30 minutes not only get a spot on the leaderboard, they get a $100 gift card and a commemorative T-shirt. Fail to eat 30 ribs in 30 minutes and you’re charged $75.

Kenny’s Rib Eating Challenge will be available at both the Plano and Frisco outposts of Kenny’s Burger Joint beginning Tuesday, July 16. Reservations for the challenge can occur any day of the week with at least 7 days’ notice.

This is not the first eating challenge popularized at Kenny’s Burger Joint. Guests can still attempt to eat the El Jefe Grande, a 7-pound, 7,000-calorie burger. And Kenny’s East Coast Pizza continues to offer its two-man Bada Bing Challenge in which two diners attempt to eat a 36” giant pepperoni pizza in under one hour.

Kenny’s Burger Joint is the creation of chef Kenny Bowers and restaurateur Bob Stegall.  Since the restaurant opened in 2009, it has served more than 4.2 million guests. The restaurant features world-class burgers, sandwiches, salads and sides in a comfortable, engaging atmosphere.  All burgers at Kenny’s Burger Joint are cooked to customer specifications on a wood-fired grill. Guests can enjoy a full bar, a menu featuring the finest ingredients in simple, delicious preparations in a relaxed, full-service environment.

Since its opening last fall, Black Agave has been lauded for its scratch cuisine and cocktails that celebrate the cuisine of both Mexico and Texas. As the season heats up, the Mercer Boardwalk restaurant is adding new menu items perfect for our Texas summer.

The Mex-Tex Shrimp Cocktail ($19.99) includes chilled shrimp, cucumber, tomato, roasted corn, peppers, onion and celery served in a zesty tomato broth. The Taquitos de Camarones ($13.99) showcase crispy tortilla-wrapped shrimp served with Baja slaw and a jalapeño aioli. The Picadillo Chile Relleno ($17.99) reinterprets a traditional favorite and includes a chorizo, potato and Oaxaca cheese-stuffed poblano with house-made salsa ranchera, rice and beans.

There are some exciting additions to the cantina menu as well. A new spicy, jalapeño margarita celebrates a classic cocktail in a more contemporary way. And, recognizing the sophisticated palate of the Black Agave diner, the restaurant has updated its wine list to offer an array of new selections chosen specifically to pair with the restaurant’s cuisine.

Black Agave gives guests an elevated, contemporary Mexican dining experience. Black Agave serves beloved heritage recipes with bold flavors created by Chef Thomas Archer, who uses only the highest-quality ingredients. The restaurant also prides itself on its unique cocktail program, with flavors that complement the restaurant’s food.
