Three Generations of the Kovach Family

Boy Scout Troop #5187, led by Boy Scout member, Jake Kovach, a 17-year old senior at Centennial High School in Frisco, TX provided The Warren Center and the children they serve (with?) a special gift for their outdoor playground. Made of wood and donated supplies by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Home Depot, the Boy Scout Troop created a sandbox cover to protect the outdoor sandbox during harsh winter weather. The sandbox cover was built at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and delivered to The Warren Center on November 8th.

Mr. Kovach organized, directed and supervised all 30 volunteers to complete this project. Jacob plays the trombone in the high school marching band and designed this project to fulfill a requirement for obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

Boy Scout Troop #5187 participates in an interactive Mentoring Program which includes The Warren Center’s sandbox cover project as well as volunteering monthly at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas. The troop also participates in various volunteer activities throughout Frisco and with the City of Frisco specifically, the Gary Burns Fun Run that supports the Frisco Education Foundation to build scholarship opportunities for Frisco ISD students.

The troop went on high adventure to Lower Mountain Fork River in Oklahoma this summer. Troop #5187 participated in a High Adventure Trip that taught the troop survival skills such as how to use flint and steels to make a fire and how to make your own fishing pole out of a stick.

In addition to survival skills the troop focuses on teaching young men how to be better individuals in their families and communities.
