Rain did not dampen the spirits of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s patrons of the Southern Savor Supper Club. Guests were feted by hostess Sherwood Wagner with true southern hospitality in her home which was transformed into a floral wonderland along with a dixieland jazz band providing lively entertainment and true southern style food served.
Sherwood is the Honorary Chair of the event which takes place at the magnificent estate home of Amanda and Brint Ryan. It is chaired by Bettina Hennessy and co-chaired by Renée Querbes Farren. Lisa Loy Laughlin is the DSOL President.
Sherwood has been a longtime supporter of the DSO and is involved with numerous charities in Dallas. Among others, she has served as President of Girls Inc. Auxiliary, Honorary Chair of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala and Honorary Chair for the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum Mad Hatter’s Tea. Sherwood currently serves on the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Board of Directors and the Aging Mind Foundation Board of Directors.
The evening’s jazz music was performed by DSO musicians and former DSO musicians who often join together for events. The quartet consisted of Jim Riggs on saxophone, Mike Drake on drums, Jeff Eckles on bass and Steven Harlos on piano.
Keeping with the theme, hors d’oeuvres passed included meatloaf and friend green tomato sliders.
The Supper Club will be VERY Southern and is based on a concept from two separate organizations: The St. Francisville Southern Garden Symposium and the Delta Supper Club. Delta Supper Club has been written up in Forbes, USA Today, Garden and Gun, New York Times among others.
The Supper Club benefits the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League has raised over $20 million dollars over the past 72 years to support the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Community Outreach and Education Programs including DSO on the Go, Community Concerts and Performances, Cecil and Ida Green Youth Concerts, Symphony Yes!, DSO Kids and Young Strings.

History: Since 1946, the DSO League has worked to support the Dallas Symphony Orchestra through service, education and fundraising efforts. Since 1998, the League has contributed more than $20 million in support of the Dallas Symphony Association’s Community Outreach and Education programs, which help bring the wonder of music to thousands in the Dallas Metroplex.
