PJ party featured award-winning author Chris Raschka, family activities

DALLAS – ChildCareGroup, a nonprofit leader in early childhood education programs for low-income families, hosted its third annual Great Big JAM, presented by Corrigan-Goddard Foundation, on Saturday morning at Dallas Country Club.

The Great Big JAM is a multigenerational event that promotes early literacy and philanthropy for some of Dallas’ youngest minds. The JAM featured storytelling and the books of Chris Raschka, two-time Caldecott Medal Winner and recipient of numerous awards and honors for his illustrations, including “A Ball for Daisy” and “The Hello, Goodbye Window”.

Kids wore their favorite pajamas and brought new pajamas to donate to the children served by ChildCareGroup as a way to encourage early philanthropy and support the families ChildCareGroup serves.

In addition to the author performance, the JAM featured kid-favorite, Aaron’s Imaginary Friends, Daisy’s ball pit, face painting, crafts, a photo booth bed, and hanging out with the event mascot, Daisy.

Great Big JAM Co-Chairs were Mary Clare Finney, Katy Brooks, Megan Adams Brooks, Elle Finney, Mary Catherine Finney and Meredith Finney.

“The third annual Great Big JAM was a great success,” said Meredith Finney, event co-chair. “I’m so proud that my family and I were part of this unique fundraiser that promotes early reading and philanthropy, all while benefiting one of Dallas’ longest-standing nonprofits.”

Major event sponsors included Corrigan-Goddard Foundation, the Finney-Brooks Families, McEvoy Family, Becky and Steve Meyer Family, Roberta Roller Rabbit, Melissa and Stephen Brooks Family, Cathy and Mike Corey Family, Katy and Kyle Miller Family, Leigh and Will Mundinger Family, Michal and Loyd Powell Family and Weir's Furniture.

ChildCareGroup is eagerly planning the fourth Annual Great Big JAM with 2018 Co-Chairs Lindsay Billingsley and Kristen Cobb.
