Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Central Christian Church marked its 150th anniversary in 2013. Established in 1863 under the leadership of our first pastor, Rev. Charles Carlton. The first church building was erected in 1867 in the West End Historical District (presently the 700 block of Ross Avenue). In 1953, the congregation moved to 4711 Westside Drive and called Dr. E.C. Rowand, Jr. to be the pastor.
Central Christian Church seeks to be the loving hands of Christ to our neighbors near and far. This is been our mission for many years. We sponsor missionary programs in Thailand and Burma but we also want to serve those in our very area by tithing as a congregation each month to local ministries.
We have worked hard over the last several years to serve our neighbors where they are. We have a wonderful community dog park on our property to give our neighbors a place to be in community with nature and fellow dog owners in the area. We also have converted part of our lot into a community garden to give our community a place to take part in organic gardening. Our garden donates a large part of the harvest to North Dallas Shared Ministries!
We are also a church that loves to be in community with one another! Every week after worship we have a coffee fellowship where we catch up with one another. We also have at least one fellowship opportunity each month which has been everything from watching a movie or play to a potluck lunch after worship.
Central Christian Church also is a church that values the Bible and Bible study. We have Bible study each Wednesday where we look at and discuss the book we call scripture! It is a wonderful hour of learning that we invite anyone ready to learn and grow!
