Form Follows Fitness 5K Surpasses $2 Million Raised Since its Inception for Design Education

On Saturday, May 16, Dallas signature architecture-themed race celebrated another milestone year as the Form Follows Fitness 5K, presented by Blackson Brick, gathered more than 60 runners, walkers, architects, designers, civic leaders and community supporters at Community Beer Company for a ceremonial check presentation benefiting The Architecture and Design Foundation. The brewery hosted four social runs leading up to the 2026 race and will host monthly runs on the third Saturday of each month through January 2027.

The 2026 race season generated $221,358.07, the third-highest fundraising total in event history, helping bring the races lifetime charitable impact to more than $2 million raised. The event also celebrated its 15th anniversary year, setting records with 3,973 registrations, $308,000 in sponsorship revenue and 184 industry teams participating. Throughout its 15-year history, 44,588 participants have taken part in the 5K.

The ceremonial presentation recognized the impact of a community event that has evolved far beyond a race. Form Follows Fitness has united the architecture, engineering, construction, planning and fitness communities to raise funds that create opportunities for students, support research, expand public education and connect residents to the beauty and importance of the built environment.

The morning also spotlighted the future of architecture, design and civic innovation. Following the presentation, an air horn sounded as runners and walkers began the first official monthly social run leading into the 2027 race season.

The AD EX Form Follows Fitness 5K really began from a simple moment of inspiration during a Saturday morning AD EX Arts District Walking Tour in 2010, said Patrick Glenn, AIA, LEED AP, ALEP, LE Fellow, Form Follows Fitness 5K founder. As Briar Glenn and I were experiencing the energy of the Dallas Arts District, we started talking about how incredible it would be to create an event that connected health, community and architecture in a more visible and engaging way. What started as a meaningful idea has grown into a Dallas tradition that celebrates architecture, promotes public engagement and supports educational programs and scholarships for future generations of designers and architects.

Glenn said one of the events greatest achievements has been strengthening the connection between the public and the architecture and design community while supporting educational initiatives and scholarships.

Seeing the lasting impact this event has had on both our profession and the broader Dallas community is something I am incredibly proud of, Glenn said. I am excited to see how we can continue to grow that message and impact for the next 15 years.

For Briar Glenn, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Form Follows Fitness 5K co-founder, the races continued growth reflects the power of community collaboration.

Celebrating the Form Follows Fitness 5Ks 15th anniversary is a tremendous milestone, Glenn said. What began as an idea to bring our industry colleagues, partners and the community together around a shared commitment to wellness and the celebration of Dallas iconic architecture has grown into something far greater than Patrick and I ever imagined.

She said the race has become the Foundations largest single fundraising effort while helping expand programs such as Build Your City!, the Exhibition Series, Architecture and Design Exchange programming and Designing My Future Camps.

Beyond race day, the 5K has become a catalyst for deeper community engagement, meaningful industry partnerships and new opportunities to inspire the next generation through the power of architecture and design, Glenn said.

Norman Alston, FAIA, president-elect of The Architecture and Design Foundation, believes the race perfectly reflects Dallas architectural spirit.

I love that the Form Follows Fitness 5K was born out of walking through our city and looking at the architecture, Alston said. Its testimony to the quality of Dallas architecture that, besides being beautiful, it can inspire people in other important aspects of their lives.

The races unique atmosphere and citywide appeal continue to resonate with participants and organizers alike, according to Eric Lindberg, race director for the Form Follows Fitness 5K.

Every year, the commitment and support from the architecture industry for the race blows me away, Lindberg said. Its the largest industry gathering in North Texas and I pause when I call it a race because its truly an event for all, including architecture, the running and walking community, families, friends and coworkers.

Lindberg added that the course remains one of the events signature experiences as participants travel through the West End, Downtown, the Arts District and Uptown before finishing at Klyde Warren Park.

Marc Blackson, president of Blackson Brick, said supporting the event aligns naturally with the companys mission and values.

Soccer Fever Hits Legacy West in Plano with Flagship Adidas Store Opening in June 2026

Legacy West is officially planting its flag as a North Texas destination for soccer fans. Today, the premier lifestyle district announced a series of high-energy activations, including the grand opening of a flagship adidas store and a new installation at Legacy West to celebrate the destinations footie fever heading into the summer.

Adidas Grand Opening

The soccer excitement kicks off with the highly anticipated arrival of the new adidas store at Legacy West. On June 4, the store officially opens its doors, bringing to Plano the classic street style for which Adidas is known.

Spanning more than 3,200 square feet, the shop will follow the adidas originals format, which focuses on creativity, culture and self-expression. It will lean heavily into lifestyle fashion and art as a complement to sports performance. Shoppers can expect a mix of premium products and limited-edition releases, with the new store featuring assortments and activations tailored specifically to the DFW and Plano market to reflect local energy.

On April 9, a charming Patron Party for the 45th Annual Equest Blue Ribbon Gala was held in the beautiful home of Connie and Marc Sigel, setting the scene for a lively and stylish start to gala season. The event brought together 75 Equest supporters for a meaningful evening filled with connection, excitement, and purpose.

Equests beloved Mini Ambassadors, Ranger and Dare two miniature horses standing under 38 inches tall greeted guests and quickly became a favorite photo opportunity. Inside, attendees enjoyed passed appetizers by Wendy Krispin Catering in an inviting atmosphere where conversation and camaraderie flowed easily, underscoring the shared commitment to Equests mission.

A special artistic touch came from Veva Sterling, daughter of Mimi Crum Sterling, who created watercolor portraits for guests, offering a personal keepsake that captured the spirit of the evening.

Cinderella proved that the right outfit can make all the difference. At Legacy West, North Texans have the chance to help make prom dreams come true for North Texas teens. This March, Legacy West is partnering with Project Beauty for its sixth annual Prom Dress Drive, collecting dresses and accessories to support high-school students across the DFW area.

March 1-13, donations of new and gently worn dresses and accessories may be dropped off at Albion Fit, located at 7601 Windrose Avenue, Suite F120, in Plano at Legacy West. Community members are encouraged to donate new or gently worn prom dresses of all sizes, along with shoes, jewelry, purses, clutches and other glamorous evening accessories. Organizers ask that all garments be clean prior to donation. There is a special need this year for plus-sized dresses (20+).

Legacy West partners with Project Beauty, the non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and children through the universal language of beauty, to build confidence, hope and provide support and encouragement for each other. The non-profit organization will distribute donations to teens served by Project Beauty, including those served through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas and Dallas CASA. Project Beauty currently serves teens from 14 area shelters and transition homes.

Prom is about more than a dress its about belonging, confidence and feeling seen, said Jo Lam, founder and CEO of Project Beauty. Through the generosity of this community, we are helping young people step into one unforgettable night feeling empowered and celebrated. Project Beauty provides beauty services and self-care programs to individuals recovering from trauma and currently serves shelters and transition homes throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

The 8th Annual Plano Food + Wine Festival, presented by Kroger Delivery, will return to Legacy West on Saturday, November 1st, from 12 PM to 6 PM. This highly anticipated event is known for bringing together thousands of foodies, wine lovers, and friends for an unforgettable day of indulgence and entertainment. Guests can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with wine tasting, delicious bites, live cooking demonstrations, shopping, and more.

The Food Tasting Pass gives guests access to sample dishes from 15 of the areas top restaurants between 12 PM and 4 PM. Each restaurant brings its best and competes for the coveted Peoples Choice Award! Avondale Offers Bespoke Mulliner Bentley Bentayga to Raise Funds to Support Childhood Cancer

This September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Avondale is pleased to offer a bespoke Mulliner-designed Bentley Bentayga vehicle named the Victoris Edition. This one-of-a-kind luxury SUV was created in collaboration with renowned Dallas artist Stephen Selzler, and proceeds from the vehicle will create change for three local non-profit organizations supporting those facing childhood cancer. This bespoke vehicle is available now at Bentley Dallas.

September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Montha time to highlight the harsh realities faced by children with cancer, stress the critical need for life-saving research, and unite in support to create meaningful change for young patients and their families.

Elevating Charitable Missions

Net proceeds from the sale of this exceptional Bentayga vehicle will raise vital funds for three North Texas charities, each making a significant impact in helping people overcome obstacles:

Childrens Health, which has been making life better for children in North Texas for more than 110 years as one of the nations premier pediatric care providers;
Childrens Cancer Fund, on a mission to find a cure for all childhood cancers and support families affected by cancer; and
The Child Study Center Cook Childrens, which provides children with complex developmental and behavioral disabilities the highest quality diagnosis, treatment and education to help them achieve their full potential.

Dedication in Design

Avondale called on internationally acclaimed artist Stephen Selzler to collaborate with Avondale and Bentleys Mulliner division to create something truly unique for North Texas. A Dallas-based fine artist, Selzler has a focus on motoring culture, concourse events and motorsport. Known for his bold, expressive style, Selzler uses art as a means of storytelling.

Selzlers design for the Bentayga reflects a powerful narrative of overcoming obstacles, with each detail of the vehicle serving as a tribute to those who have faced lifes toughest battles and emerged victorious. The artists intricate design touches every part of the vehiclefrom the exterior to the interiorimbuing it with a message of hope, perseverance and strength.

The exterior features a unique, hand-painted design inspired by themes of renewal, featuring dynamic brushstrokes and vivid colors that symbolize the beauty found in resilience. Inside, the craftsmanship of the Bentley Bentayga is enhanced with Selzlers bespoke artistic touches, including finely detailed embroidery, custom leather, and exclusive finishes from Mulliner that elevate the vehicle to an unprecedented level of elegance and artistry.

Through this collaboration, we have created a moving tribute to the power of human resilience. The vehicles designs, from the bespoke paintwork to the interior details, are imbued with symbols of triumph and resilience, carefully curated to resonate with the stories of those overcoming lifes challenges. The 44^th Annual Equest Blue Ribbon Gala was a night where cowboy boots and big-hearted bidding came together in a spirited celebration that still has Dallas buzzing. On April 25, Gilleys Dallas was transformed into a shimmering celebration of all things Equest, thanks to the visionary leadership of Gala Chairs Kristin and James Hallam and Honorary Chairs The Sam and Helga Feldman Foundation and Natalie and David Taylor. The event drew a sold-out crowd of 570 and raised $700,000, the largest fundraising amount in Equests 44-year history.

From the first yee haw delivered by emcee Calvert Collins-Bratton, guests knew this was no ordinary gala. The program unfolded as a masterclass in inspiration, with each speaker reminding the room that every dollar raised would help Equest deliver hope and healing through its transformative equine-assisted programs.

Equest Founder Susan Schwartz presented the Founders Award to Carol Chamberlin, whose three decades of service as volunteer, donor, and barn manager have made her a legend in the Equest family. The Citation Award went to Donna and Tim Weber and their daughter Katherine, an Equest client, in recognition of their tireless volunteerism and generous philanthropy.

New CEO Eric Lindh took the stage to share Equests bold vision for the future, focusing on the number 22, a call to action inspired by the 22 percent of Dallas County residents living with a disability, the 22 veterans lost to suicide daily in the U.S., and the 22 percent of Americans living with mental illness, while less than half of those receive treatment. His pledge to expand services to first responders struck a chord, as did the moving testimonials from Equest clients.

The silent and live auctions were runaway successes. Auction Chair Norma Jean Schaltenbrand urged the crowd to Bid boldly. Bid big. Bid with heart, and Dallas delivered. Auctioneer Louis Murad encouraged bidders to raise paddles effortlessly, starting from initial $10,000 bids onward. He energized the room with live auction packages featuring fabulous trips around the world, including destinations such as France, Antigua, Montana, and more. But the most memorable moment came when a guest insisted Louis auction off his own sparkling jacket. Ever the showman, he obliged, and the jacket fetched $2,000, a purchase by Tim Weber who clearly knows a statement piece when he sees one.

Of course, no gala would be complete without a little razzle-dazzle from event designer Steve Kemble, who outdid himself with a blue ombré color scheme, elegant white rose tablescapes, and a disco saddle centerpiece that had everyone talking. As the evening drew to a close, guests tried their luck at casino games and danced the night away to Jordan Kahns Manhattan Orchestra. The sensational fundraising evening proved once again that when Dallas comes together for Equest, its always a blue-ribbon affair.
