Jim Mills awarded 2015 Charles E. Seay Outstanding Leadership Award by the Park Cities YMCA
The Park Cities YMCA has awarded Jim Mills with the 2015 Charles E. Seay Outstanding Leadership Award. The award was presented to Mr. Mills at the January Kick-Off Breakfast for the Annual Campaign.
The Seay Award is given annually in recognition and appreciation of volunteers who have demonstrated distinguished service and exemplified the purpose and ideals of the YMCA. Mr. Seay served on the Park Cities YMCA Board of Management, contributed financial resources as well as provided leadership to capital and annual support campaigns and raised countless dollars for the YMCA.
Carlos Mungia, a former recipient of the Charles E. Seay Award, presented the award to Mr. Mills. Mr. Mungia said “This year’s award recipient is someone that I have had the pleasure of working with very closely for several years as a Park Cities Y Board member. To sum it up he is a man of principle with the organizational skills, passion and tenacity to achieve the objective of the particular Park Cities Y project at hand. I hold a lot of respect for Jim Mills and am happy that he was honored this way.”
Mr. Mills began his volunteer service as a coach when his children were active participants in the YMCA Youth Sports and Indian Guide and Princess Programs where he served as a Nation Chief. In 2003 he successfully chaired the Partners Campaign, an annual fundraising drive by the YMCA. He began his tenure on the Park Cities YMCA Board of Management in 2004 where he served as chairman from 2010 to 2011. From 2013-2014 he was Chair of the Project Management Committee that was responsible for the planning and building of the future Park Cities YMCA.
In addition, Mr. Mills has been very active in the Rotary Club of Park Cities. He served as its president from 2011-2012. He now chairs the Rotary Club of Park Cities July the 4th Parade which is held in the Park Cities.
Mr. Mills graduated from Louisiana State University Law School and is the owner of the Mills Law Firm. He has been married to June for 29 years. They are the proud parents of three children, Amanda, Caroline and James.
