red holiday and winter outfits

Red is always a holiday favorite, but it doesn’t have to be limited to Christmas week. From deep burgundy knits to classic cherry red coats, these pieces are ones you can wear throughout the holidays and well into winter. This season, I’m leaning into richer tones ... think crimson, wine, and berry shades that feel festive now and timeless later. Whether you’re dressing for holiday parties, winter days, or casual dinners, red is a color that instantly elevates any look. Also, if you have anything left to purchase by Christmas, now is the time! Like this candy cane drink mix is a cute last minute gift idea. Make sure you checked off everyone on your list by viewing all of my Holiday Gift Guides HERE. Christmas is only a week away! I'm in 100% panic mode. EEK!

Red Holiday Outfit Ideas

A red sweater is one of the easiest ways to embrace the season. I love both bright reds and deeper wine tones. Two favorites includes this burgundy cashmere turtleneck sweater and this red cable-knit sweater. This red cashmere turtleneck sweater is another one that I own in brown and love. They pair beautifully with denim, trousers, or even velvet pants. Above, I have them styled with these red coated jeans (also available here). I love a chic monochromatic look. I have lots more red sweaters below in all different styles and price points. After the holidays, style these sweaters with neutral bottoms or layered under a coat for an effortless winter look you’ll reach for again and again.

Red dresses are perfect for holiday gatherings, but the key is choosing silhouettes that don’t feel overly seasonal. Simple shapes in textured fabrics or deeper hues can easily transition into January with boots, tights, and a structured coat. This burgundy boucle dress is one of those pieces you’ll be glad you have when you need something polished without overthinking it. If you're still in need of a last minute Christmas look, check out more ideas here.

A red coat or jacket instantly makes any outfit feel pulled together. It’s the perfect statement piece for winter because it's festive without being overdone. One that I'm loving this season is this belted midi coat. It's so pretty!

Scarf and hat sets are one of my favorite winter accessories, plus they're a great gift idea. You can go for a classic red scarf and beanie or change it up with a red plaid scarf. They’re easy to mix and match with coats, sweaters, and dresses, making them a winter staple you’ll use long after the holidays.

Some easy ways to add a pop of red to your outfit is with red statement earrings, a red stone bracelet or a red handbag. I am also in love with this burgundy suede bag for winter. Just add these merlot slingback heels to add the awe factor to any look. Now all you need is red lipstick for that final pop.

Do you call it red, crimson or berry? Does it depend on the hue? Hmmm...
