His & Hers Outfit Ideas: Fall Date Night

fall date night outfits for her

Happy Friday y'all! I'm trying out a new blog post today: his and her outfit ideas. Let me know what you think. In honor of it being the weekend, I'm specifically focusing on looks for a fall date night. I'd love to hear what you think of this type of post in the comments below. If y'all appreciate some ideas for men, I can incorporate more of them in the future! I've also included five date night ideas if you're feeling in a rut and want some inspiration to get out of the house. You can always send this to your spouse as a subtle nudge, too ;).

Fall Date Night Outfits

HERS: For women it's essential to find some pieces that are chic and sexy. I especially like to have pieces that I can mix and match depending on how dressy our evening is. Finding elevated pieces in neutral colors is key to do this easily. One piece that fits the bill perfectly is this black blouse. The pearl clasp detail and balloon-style sleeves elevated your everyday black blouse. You can pair it with a skirt, jeans, or even coated jeans. A coated jean is a great way to show off your figure and elevate your date night style. I own this pair of brown coated jeans, but love these brown coated jeans for the bootcut style, making it easier to pair with heels.

I also love a gorgeous silk top for date night. This sleeveless silk blouse and silk ruched midi skirt are so chic together. The plum color is perfect for fall! I also love this silk halter top and skirt for an option under $100. You can wear them together to create a monochromatic look, or wear as separates. Your significant other will love it!

A dress is another classic piece for date night. This floral silk maxi dress is absolutely stunning. Wear it with boots, heels, or flats. It's really that versatile. You can also wear it to a fall wedding. Just add a leather clutch bag, slingback pumps, and statement earrings to complete your look.

HIS: Men seem to have it easier in the dressing department, but the quality of the pieces they own make all the difference. Your guy definitely needs both a great pair of jeans and khakis, not only for work, but also to look the part when he takes you out on a date. He also needs a classic button down in fall shades or crewneck sweater to pair with his pants. If it is still warmer where you are, then this sweater polo shirt is a great option. Lightweight but still in fall shades.

What takes a guys look from blah to awe is all about how he styles his look. For fall he will want a layer, so owning something like a this suede-trimmed quarter zip sweater is essential. This merino wool quarter-zip is another good option. A blazer is another layering piece for dressier events. He can even pair it over a crewneck tee or sweater to dress it down a bit. When temperatures get chillier, he will also want a more substantial jacket, like this suede jacket.

Then it's all about finishing with the right shoes and accessories. Nice dress shoes and a matching leather belt are a must. He just needs cologne as the finishing touch.

Date Night Ideas

  1. Head to a new restaurant. I know this seems obvious, but it really is easy to go to the same spots again and again, so changing the restaurant definitely spices things up. Michelin just released their new list of restaurants, and Dallas has a great list of hot spots. I have heard Mamani is supposed to be fabulous if you're looking for an elevated evening or dining for a special occasion. Pete and I love going to Cafe Pacific in Highland Park Village.
  2. Check out local events. There are great museums in Dallas that I rarely go to. It's easy to forget that there are so many fabulous museums so close to me! Each museum in the Dallas Arts District does regular programming and events in the evenings. For instance, the Perot Museum puts on Thursdays on Tap, the Nasher hosts 'til Midnight at the Nasher, and the DMA offers Late Night at the Museum, all of which are great date night ideas. And if you're not from Dallas, check out what events are happening locally for you.
  3. Carve out time for a weekend staycation. I know this is easier said than done, but is something we rarely consider and is often more affordable and less logistics than leaving your area. You may remember I've taken staycations at both The Ritz-Carlton Las Colinas and PGA Frisco. I felt refreshed and recharged afterwards!
  4. Take a cooking class. Sur La Table offers regular cooking classes that are so fun. They have many options, some of which are specifically catered for date night. It's a unique way to enjoy a meal together. You also take the recipes home afterwards so you can make it again for an at-home date night.
  5. See a show. There are so many venues in Dallas where you can always find an upcoming show whether it be a concert, a musical, the ballet, a comedy show, and more. You can even attend a sporting event! Choose the event that both of you will enjoy to make it a meaningful experience.
