A travel post in lifestyle blogger TAnyaFoster.com details where to stay and what to do in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

The view when arriving at Casa Del Mar.

Beach essentials + sun screen!

I wore this shirt dress in this blog post as a jacket. Here I styled it with shorts for a spring/summer look. Katherine’s white dress here.

The view from our hotel. The beach was empty and we saw wales jumping right in front of us!

Margarita’s by the pool. Paired with guacamole for lunch. Is there anything better?

Got this off-the-shoulder one piece for the trip. I love this one too. Be sure to size up one size.

Flora Farms for dinner.

I talked about this amazing swimsuit cover up in this blog post. Seriously, so pretty on the beach.

Dinner and drinks at the One & Only Palmilla. Always a good idea. (photo: Alicia Wood)

I caught this sunrise off of our balcony at Casa Del Mar with my iPhone. Seriously gorgeous!

Is there anything better than a quick getaway with girlfriends? Whether it’s a long weekend or a full vacation, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is always a good idea. I’m always up for a beautiful location where I can put my toes in the sand. Check out how this destination should be on your short list of your next travel plans.

Cabo has been rated as one of Mexico’s top 5 tourist destinations; it is known for its beaches, scuba diving locations, balnearios, the sea arch El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, and marine life. The vacation destinations is located on the coast between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, the southern most tip of the Baja.

The beauty of Mexico is that it is a short plane ride from Dallas, Texas. Although I’ve been to Cabo San Lucas numerous times, this blog post will focus on our recent girls trip and all the details surrounding it. When Alicia with The Lush List asked if I could get away for a long weekend in January, I was all in. She grabbed her college roommate Susan and I grabbed my dear friend Katherine Harper. Katherine and I have worked on several film projects together and she will do a guest blog post soon. The goal was to get away: disconnect and relax. Here’s how we did it.

Travel: There are several non-stop flights a day from Dallas to Cabo. We traveled with American Airlines and departed on a Thursday morning, returning on Sunday afternoon. This gives you plenty of days to enjoy the sunshine. It’s a short two hour flight.

Stay: There are so many marvelous resorts in Cabo San Lucas offering miles of beautiful beach and ocean. We stayed at the Casa Del Mar this time. It’s a beautiful property that offers everything you need. Our ocean front rooms provided the most spectacular views including a daily sunrise that was not to be missed. Katherine and I sat on our balcony with fresh brewed coffee solving all the problems of the world each morning. Casa Del Mar is located next to Las Ventanas resort.

Dine: Pop over to Las Ventanas Resort for drinks, have dinner at the One & Only Palmilla (Pete and I have stayed at both resorts and we highly recommend them), and be sure to venture out to Flora Farms for a meal. It’s a bit remote but you will not regret making the trip. After all, Adam Levine got married at Flora Farms. Other suggestions: Cape Hotel, Edith’s, Bar Esquina, Grand Velas (brand new), Los Tamarindos (organic farm similar to Flora Farms), La Osteria. If you want to be near the charming downtown San Jose try Casa Natalia, La Lupita and Don Sanchez.

Destination wedding or party: If you find yourself needing a fantastic event planner for a destination wedding or party, I highly recommend Amy Abbott Wedding and Events. I know Amy and Lauren personally and have seen first hand their beautiful work and attention to detail. Her entire staff is top-notch!

Daily: Breakfast at the hotel, walks on the beach, relax by the pool while enjoying margaritas and guacamole, girl talk and did I mention margarita’s? There are lots of things to do in Cabo San Lucas like golf, whale watching (we saw some just off our beach – amazing), shopping and much more.

Packing list: Swimsuits, cover ups, sunscreen, casual clothes, a wrap for the evening (it gets cold), sun hat, beach bag, flip flops and a few sun dresses for dinners out at night. See my packing list links below. No, I can’t pack like Taylor did in her post about how to pack for a four month trip.

As a side note, for whatever reason there was hardly anyone in Cabo San Lucas the weekend we were there (last weekend in January). There were times we had the entire beach to ourselves. It was in the 80’s during the day with full sunshine but got chilly at night with temperatures in the low 60’s. Be sure to pack a jacket or wrap. The Baja is an excellent idea for a holiday weekend, spring break or even a summer vacation (it will be hot in the summer months). Plan ahead to take advantage of good rates and fare sales.

Toes in the sand anyone? I can still hear the ocean waves.  xoxo – Tanya
