The SPCA of Texas is thrilled to present the 28th annual Home for the Holidays event at NorthPark Center from November 16 through December 23, 2018. This signature event brings shoppers and pet lovers together to raise awareness for homeless pets, and to help these wonderful animals find their forever, loving families.
The annual festivities kick off this Friday, November 16th, with the annual Bark + Build luxury Dog House Design/Build Competition and display portion of Home for the Holidays. Twenty-four custom-made dog houses and cat condos will go on display at NorthPark Center on Level One between Dillard's and Macy's this Friday, November 16. These one-of-a-kind pet houses were designed and built by members of the American Institute of Architects Dallas Chapter and TEXO, The Construction Association.
This year all of the entries will be auctioned off online at spcaholidays.com. You can bid online until 8:00 p.m. on December 2, 2018 and try to win your very own luxury dog house or cat condo! All money raised will go towards the SPCA of Texas' important mission to provide every animal exceptional care and a loving home.
All entries for AIA Dallas and TEXO, The Construction Association's Bark + Build Doghouse Design/Build Competition will be judged on both design and construction quality by a jury panel. This panel includes Dr. Troy Cobb, Veterinarian at VCA Central Expressway Animal Hospital; Mary Spencer, Board Member of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and former SPCA of Texas Board Member; Rhonda Reinhart, Editor-in-Chief of Modern Luxury Texas; Andy O'Nan, Pre-Construction Manager of Sebastian Construction Company; Chuck Sloma, Director of Business Development for the Dallas office at JE Dunn Construction; Don Gatzke, FAIA, Professor for the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs at University of Texas at Arlington, Design Team at Dennehy Architects; and Marc Blackson, President/CEO of Blackson Brick Company, Inc. Awards include: Best in Show (1st place) and the Hot Dog Award (runner up). As well as the Teacup Pup Award, Big Dog Award, Cat Condo Award, Enviro Dog Award, and Doggy Decor Award. Awards will be presented on December 2, 2018 at the SPCA of Texas' Home for the Holidays Housewarming Party.
Additionally, the final prize, Top Dog Award or "People's Choice," will be given to the dog house or cat condo that received the most bids! You can bid online at spcaholidays.com for an opportunity to take home one of these gorgeous pet houses and to cast your vote. The winner will be announced on December 3, 2018.
