The SPCA of Texas is excited to announce the recipient of the 2018 Mary Spencer Award, Roberta "Bobbi" Snyder. Bobbi Snyder has been a longtime advocate of the SPCA of Texas and was one of the first supporters of the organization's Southern Dallas Initiative, which provides free spay/neuter surgeries to 23 Southern Dallas zip codes.

This award, named for animal advocate extraordinaire Mary Spencer, honors individuals and organizations that have made a significant difference in the lives of animals in North Texas. For nearly 20 years, Bobbi Snyder's giving nature has touched the lives of thousands of North Texans and their pets. Her family's foundation, the Snyder Foundation, led the charge at the SPCA of Texas' Paws Cause event last year, which benefits the Southern Dallas Spay/Neuter and Wellness Initiative and the SPCA of Texas’ Mary Spencer Clinic at Village Fair. The Snyder Foundation challenged all 2018 Paws Cause supporters to donate and they would generously match all donations up to $100,000. Bobbi Snyder expressed to us that she was moved to provide the match to help elevate excitement about donating to the SPCA of Texas.

The Snyder Foundation has been a constant supporter of the SPCA of Texas, helping the organization purchase an essential heating and AC unit at our Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, building an outdoor kennel area at our Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, providing medical equipment and supporting the SPCA of Texas' mission to provide every animal with exceptional care and a loving home.

"Bobbi Snyder enriches all of our lives with her generous spirit," said James Bias, SPCA of Texas President/CEO. "Her unwavering support for the SPCA of Texas, fierce love of animals and selfless desire to give back to her community has not only helped local families and their pets, but has helped others realize the fulfillment that comes from giving."

Bobbi Snyder will receive the award at the SPCA of Texas' Paws Cause 2019, Four Paws at a Time. Paws Cause will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the beautiful Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.

In particular, Paws Cause raises funds for the following programs:

  • The Mary Spencer Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic at Village Fair, strategically located in South Dallas, which provides low cost medical services and anchors the overall Southern Dallas effort.
  • The SPCA of Texas' Kivo Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic, which targets underserved neighborhoods each week and provides free spay/neuter surgeries to residents in 23 Southern Dallas zip codes. The Mobile Spay/Neuter Vehicles helps communities at risk due to animal overpopulation as well as provides assistance to the elderly or citizens with transportation challenges.
  • Community Pet Program with “boots on the ground” door to door contact educating local residents as to the benefits of humane animal stewardship, as well as distributing pet food and supplies to pet owners needing assistance.
  • Free wellness services to underserved communities, including monthly community wellness events offering free vaccinations, flea/tick preventative and microchips to residents in the community.

This casual, fun-filled evening features wonderful food from local chefs, libations, musical entertainment, provided by GOGA, the always popular Bone Appétit restaurant drawing and of course, a chance to mingle with some furry friends. Guests will enjoy portable haute cuisine from several of the Metroplex’s finest restaurants.
