8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
More than 3,000 pups and their humans strutted their stuff, starting at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, on Saturday, May 12. It was part of the SPCA of Texas’ 13th annual Strut Your Mutt, the Race to End Animal Cruelty.
Devoted dogs and happy humans enjoyed their morning jogs and leisurely strolls through the Dallas Design District. Once they high fived the SPCA of Texas’ mascots, Snip and Scooter, while crossing the finish line, participants enjoyed chowing down on delicious burgers and hot dogs thanks to Fuddruckers, cuddling with adoptable SPCA of Texas pets and vising with dozens of vendors. People cooled off with thirst-quenching water and sports drinks while dogs lounged in kiddie pools filled with ice water. Hundreds stayed to celebrate with refreshing mimosas thanks to Barefoot Wine and chilled beer thank to Amstel Xlight.

The goal was to raise awareness about animal cruelty and what people can do to help animals in crisis and funds to support the SPCA of Texas’ wide array of programs and services. If you suspect animal cruelty contact local law enforcement or report it to the SPCA of Texas. To help the SPCA of Texas rescue, rehome and rehabilitate thousands of animals every year, there is still time to make a gift. While the race is over, you can still donate until the end of May at gostrut.org
