Get ready to strut your stuff with your furry best friend and the SPCA of Texas at the 14th annual Strut Your Mutt, The Race to End Animal Cruelty, presented by VCA Animal Hospitals and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. On Saturday, May 11th come join the party at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge near Trinity Groves in Dallas. Registration is $35 for the 3K Fun Run and $40 for the timed 5K (canine companions are welcome but not required). All money raised at the run will help the SPCA of Texas rescue, rehome and rehabilitate thousands of animals in the DFW area. Register today at GoStrut.org.
The SPCA of Texas is getting the competition started early with a T-shirt design contest. Starting Monday, April 1, the SPCA of Texas is letting strutters choose the T-shirt design for the race. Runners and pet lovers can vote on the SPCA of Texas' Facebook page until Sunday, April 7. Runners will also receive a special discount starting tomorrow on April Fool's Day. Participants will receive $10 off the registration fee for the 5K or Fun Run with code "NOFOOLING." The discount code will expire on Sunday, April 7.
On May 11th, The festivities begin at 8:00 a.m. with WFAA's Demetria Obilor, Carter from 102.9 NOW and Lone Star 92.5's Debbie Alcocer. The Dallas Mavericks ManiAACs, MavsMan and Champ will be there to pump up the crowd and lead the pre-race warm ups. There will also be great tunes provided by DJ Mark Cutz of Radio DJs. The timed 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 3K Fun Run will start at 9:30 a.m.
The goal of Strut Your Mutt is to raise awareness about animal cruelty in North Texas. The SPCA of Texas hopes to continue to positively impact this problem with the support of the community. The SPCA of Texas' Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit investigates more than 3,700 animal cruelty cases each year, many resulting in criminal convictions. As a result of these cases, the SPCA of Texas is successful in rescuing over 3,000 animals out of harm's way every year in multiple Texas counties.
In addition to the walk, strutters will also enjoy free food, mimosas and refreshments! We will also have plenty of family-fun events for you to enjoy in our Bow-Wow-Bazaar, which will include vendor booths, activities for pets and kids, demonstrations and more!
