This fall’s concert celebrates women’s voices with works by three female choreographers, including two premieres and a restaged work. The concert will showcase a new work by Artist-in-Residence Brandi Coleman highlighting jazz dance’s celebration of individuality. The piece will be based in Jump Rhythm® Technique, a rhythm-generated approach to movement that focuses on percussive energy as a means of expressive dancing. Dallas-area choreographer Bridget Moore, a Princess Grace Award recipient, also will create a new piece for the Meadows dancers; her work provides both cultural and kinesthetic experiences rooted in an African American and contemporary dance aesthetic. New York-based choreographer Cherylyn Lavagnino will set a group work to the fourth movement of Franz Schubert’s Trio in E-Flat Major. A restaging of her 2013 work Treize en Jeu, it will feature additional dancers in duets, trios and solos set against a backdrop of counterpoint group entrances and exits, creating a textured picture that reflects the complex musical score.  For more information call 214.768.2787.
