Ronald McDonald House of Dallas to Host Under the Texas Moonlight
Featuring Music by Shinyribs on March 30 at The Hall on Dragon Street
Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) will host its Under the Texas Moonlight Gala presented by LiquidAgents Healthcare on Saturday, March 30 from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at The Hall on Dragon Street. Immediate Past Board Chair Doug Smellage and his wife Ann will serve as Honorary Co-chairs, while long-time volunteers April Cook and Alyson Engstrom will co-chair the gala, which will feature entertainment by the Austin-based, Texas soul group Shinyribs.
“We’re delighted to have Shinyribs perform for our supporters at this year’s gala, bringing some of the magic and energy they do to their Austin City Limits appearances,” said Jill Cumnock, Chief Executive Officer of RMHD. “Between the Texas soul music, the elegant Texas chic attire, and guests who have hearts as big as Texas, we’re expecting another entertaining and beautiful evening that does a great amount of good for our families living at the House.”
In its 13th year, the annual Under the Moonlight gala has raised more than $2 million for the families living at RMHD. Being presented for the second year by LiquidAgents Healthcare, the event is also being supported by Quadrant Investment Properties, Rockit Resource Group, Ann and Doug Smellage, Prairie Creek Partners, Children’s Health, Sewell
Automotive Companies, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater North Texas, Texas Scottish Rite, and UT Southwestern Medical School/Southwestern Medical Foundation, among many others.
"We look forward to this gala every year to support the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and the many families that need their services,” said Jenny Hanlon, CFO and co-owner of LiquidAgents Healthcare. “Having a sick or hospitalized child can be heartbreaking; but RMHD gives hope, joy and love to those who need it most. Every dollar raised means another family can be supported during a very difficult time in their lives.”
In addition to the Shinyribs, Under the Texas Moonlight will also include a live auction, dinner and an open bar. Tickets and sponsorships are available by visiting https://rmhdallas.org/events/under-the-moonlight/
RMHD serves as a home-away-from-home to families while their children are being treated for critical illnesses or serious injuries in the Dallas area. The House has served more than 38,000 families in its nearly 40-year history, and while families are asked to contribute a mere $15 per night to their stay, no family is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
In September 2018, RMHD broke ground on The Elsie & Marvin Dekelboum Family Foundation Wing, an $11.5 million expansion that will add 30 additional guest rooms to its Medical District location. The next month, it opened its first-ever family room for families with children receiving outpatient care at Scottish Rite in Frisco.
