Having grown up with Gene Leedy, I never thought of him or his friends as "famous" architects. I was going through some recipes today of my mother's and found a recipe that Mark Hampton gave to my mother, affectionately know as "Margie Mouse."
Mark Hampton, along with my Dad - Gene Leedy and other midcentury modern architects were part of the Sarasota School of Architecture.
Collard Green Soup
- Strips of Bacon chopped
- 4 cups broth
- 4 packages of onions and vegetables
- 2 packages of frozen chopped collard greens
- 2 chorizos - chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 3 cans of white kidney beans
- 2 dashes tabasco
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Tablespoon Vinegar
Brown bacon in soup pot
Add broth and collard greens til hot
Add chorizo and garlic
Simmer 3/4 hour covered
Add beans, tabasco, sugar and vinegar
Simmer 1/2 hour - covered.
