Pioneer Day Janey Beth Pennington and William Whitaker square dance.

On April 1, Providence Class Two students traveled back in time to 1853 and the Oregon Trail.  They packed their bags, loaded their wagons, and donned appropriate costumes for a fun day of re-living history.

The day started out with the Trail Bosses (dads) rounding up all the Class Two students, gathering them in their classrooms, and taking them to Pioneer Day. The Class Two Trailblazers met up with their Mother Hens and sang Pioneer songs.

After the students sang, they made their way to Pioneer stations, some of which included panning for gold, shaving their faces, carding wool, playing Pioneer games, and climbing aboard a wagon like the Pioneers did. The exciting Pioneer Day ended with a picnic lunch and square dancing.
