Hop to it! 2011 marks the Year of the Rabbit, so celebrate spectacularly with a rare glow-in-the-dark dragon and lion dance parade, family-fun activities, martial arts demos, musical entertainment, calligraphy and paper cutting demos, late-night karaoke, colorful sights, complimentary fortune telling, candy and bubble tea, beer tastings and more at Crow Collection After Dark: Year of the Rabbit Celebration on Friday, February 18, from 6 p.m. – midnight.

Get creative with free family art activities including traditional red envelopes and luminous lanterns from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Grand Gallery (supplies limited). Observe artists demonstrating the fine skill of Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting from 6 – 8 p.m. Enjoy a harp performance by Anita Hu from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Garden Gallery, followed by the Four Seasons Choral Society and Chinese Orchestra at 7 p.m. in the Grand Gallery.

At 8 p.m., go outside to see the masterful martial arts moves of the J. K. Wong Kungfu Tai Chi Academy followed by a rare glow-in-the-dark dragon and lion dance parade that will dazzle crowds on Flora Street. Throughout the evening, stroll beneath a 60-foot dragon lit by black lights and suspended in the Crow Collection’s indoor Sky Bridge Gallery.

Forecast the future with free Chinese fortune telling beginning at 9 p.m. in the Jade Room. Late-nighters and songsters can stick around for multimedia karaoke with DJ Mark Ridlen while sipping Asian beer (with valid ID) from 10 – 11:30 p.m. in the Grand Gallery.

Complimentary candy and Chill Bubble Tea and green tea tastings will be offered from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Grand Gallery (limited supplies). Full-sized beverages may be purchased for $3. Asian beer sampling will be available from 10 – 11:30 p.m. (must be 21 with valid ID; limited supplies).

Free and open to the public, Crow Collection After Dark: Year of the Rabbit Celebration is presented in partnership with Chill Bubble Tea and the Dallas Observer. In the event of inclement weather, some activities may be canceled or moved indoors.
