UP Residents: Storm Debris Collection is Free Until Friday, Jan. 10

The City of University Park announced Monday morning that it will pick up storm debris including downed tree limbs from last weekend's ice storm for free until Friday, Jan. 10 at 5 p.m.

After the Jan. 10 deadline, University Park's normal brush collection fees will be charged.

City officials are asking residents to put any debris in front of their homes, rather than alleyways, so crew members can pick debris up and dispose of it efficiently. The City will collect storm debris every Wednesday and Saturday until Jan. 10, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Sanitation services won't be affected by storm debris collection, the City said.

"For the next several days, it will not be necessary to call 3-1-1 to request storm debris removal. The City is working proactively on a street-by-street basis to collect storm debris," City spokesman Steve Mace said.

Additionally, employees with the Park Dept. are working to trim and remove limbs in city parks.
