The Arthritis Foundation South Central Region announced the recent hiring of Shelley Tims at the Dallas headquarters. Tims joins the Arthritis Foundation as the Director of Community Advancement. Under her new position, Tims will be the primary liaison with the North Texas Community Leadership Board, and will oversee individual giving and galas in the Dallas Metroplex area.

Shelley Tims Joins Organization as Director of Community Advancement   

The Arthritis Foundation South Central Region would like to announce the recent hiring of Shelley Tims at the Dallas headquarters.  Tims joins the Arthritis Foundation as the Director of Community Advancement. Under her new position, Tims will be the primary liaison with the North Texas Community Leadership Board, and will oversee individual giving and galas in the Dallas Metroplex area.  She will report to Karla Baldelli, Sr. Vice President of Development. 

 “The further expansion of our management team continues to strengthen our ability to meet the needs of our constituents in the communities that we serve in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico,” said Susan Carter, Chief Executive Officer, Arthritis Foundation South Central Region.  “Shelley’s extensive knowledge of community outreach and expertise in fundraising in the nonprofit sector will greatly benefit our organization to help support those living with arthritis pain every minute of every day, including 1.8 million here in North Texas.”

As the  Director of  Community Advancement, Tims will focus on generating revenue in support of the mission of the Arthritis Foundation.  Tims will also have direct responsibility for many signature events for the Arthritis Foundation including the Walk to Cure Arthritis, gala events, rides, golf tournaments, Jingle Bell Run/Walks and other revenue generating activities. She will work in close collaboration with executives and managers in the Development Group, oversee and manage team-oriented fundraising activities and staff.  

Tims’ impressive background with nonprofits is reflected in her demonstrated leadership though her volunteer service with such prestigious organizations as the Junior League of Dallas, Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, Cattle Barons, AT&T Performing Arts Center, Heroes for Children, The Family Place, TACA, Kidney Texas, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. 

 She is dedicated to community service and has been instrumental on various North Texas Boards including Victims Outreach and The Wilkinson Center.  She currently serves as Board Member and Member of the Fund Development Committee for The Warren Center, and is President-Elect of the Children’s Council Board of Dallas CASA.  Tims chaired the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League Presentation Ball, the Equest Auxiliary 80th Anniversary Luncheon and is the current Luncheon Chair for Dallas CASA and recently completed the 2012/2013 T. Boone Pickens Leadership Program.

Tims holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Graphics from Texas Christian University.  Prior to coming to the Arthritis Foundation, Tims spent 20 years in the graphic design and printing industry and most recently served as VP of Sales and Marketing for Gift Annuity NOW®, a web-based application providing nonprofits the ability to offer gift annuities without risk or liabilities. 

Tims is an exceptionally talented and results-oriented advancement professional who has helped nonprofits position their worth and value by the true impact made through its programs and services, and by successfully engaging community members through effective fundraising and volunteerism.  

The work of the Arthritis Foundation South Central Region supports the organization’s fight against arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability.  Currently, 53 million Americans (one in five) are living with arthritis pain every minute of every day.  The Arthritis Foundation leads initiatives to support research to find a cure, provide public health/educational programs for those who have arthritis, and continue its advocacy efforts throughout the South Central Region and across the U.S.
