The Dallas Marathon and Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI) announced today that the two organizations have extended their partnership through 2020.

“We are pleased to continue to work with Competitor Group to support the Dallas and Texas running communities, the city of Dallas and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, the primary beneficiary of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon since 1997,” said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. “We believe this new agreement will be in the best interest of runners everywhere.”

Under the terms of the new agreement, CGI – which operates the Rock ‘n’ Roll series of races – will continue to partner with the Dallas Marathon to hold the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon each spring through 2020. Additionally, the new agreement allows CGI to produce the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon the first weekend of December, beginning in 2014. The Dallas Marathon holds the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon the second weekend of each December.

The two organizations will work to jointly market runner participation in both the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon and CGI’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events.

"The Dallas Marathon shares our commitment to providing runners with an outstanding event experience and we are delighted to extend our successful partnership, along with our continued support of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children," said Josh Furlow, SVP of Operations for CGI. "We are two organizations that are heavily invested in the promotion of health and wellness and can ultimately have a larger impact together than separately."

The 44th MetroPCS Dallas Marathon is Sunday, December 8. For more information or to register for the marathon, half marathon or 5-person relay, visit dallasmarathon.com.
