The 2013 Cigna Mayor’s Race 5K Presented by Oncor is sold out, race organizers announced today. The race is held on Saturday, December 7 as part of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon weekend festivities. Launched in 2002 by then-Mayor Laura Miller as a way to encourage local school children to be more physically active, the Cigna Mayor’s Race 5K Presented by Oncor has today grown into one of Dallas’ largest 5K races.

“The growth of the Cigna Mayor’s Race continues to exceed our expectations each year,” said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. “We are committed to promoting good health and physical fitness in the local community and will strive to improve the race for the young runners from DISD.”

The 3.1-mile run is free for Dallas ISD students of participating schools. Nearly 100 schools will participate in the 2013 race.

The MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon and 5-Person Relay is Sunday, December 8. Race officials expect all races to sellout.
